14" 45-70 W/muzzle tamer front sight?
« on: October 17, 2011, 04:22:54 PM »
The next barrel I have on the list for my G2 'tender is a 45-70. I wanted to shoot it with open sights, but from what I have read the barrels with the muzzle tamer do not have sights, or are drilled and taped for them. Is that correct information.

It's not a 45-70 but you ask about the barrel with muzzle tamer. I have a 223 14" from the custom shop at t/c w/muzzle tamer and it has the front sight.

My 14" 45-70 Hunter Barrel, that I sold to Keith, did not have open sights(Keith...correct me if I'm wrong).  12" Hunter Barrels came with sights.....14" did not... nor were they drilled and tapped....I think ??? .

That makes me wonder about my 14" then. It is drilled for front sights. Maybe mine was drilled after the fact. But I can send pics if need be. The break is larger dia. than the barrel if that helps. Maybe mine is not a hunter barrel, just a custom shop barrel.

Neither of my 14s with brakes have the front sight holes drilled by my 10 inch does.  All three I got used so no idea how they started life.

then I must have the odd ball. Maybe it's out of the custom shop but it don't have the markings to say so. I thought it was but a friend said it was just a muzzle tamer barrel. I don't know. But here are the pics to see.
