Yes, I used to think an intelligent discussion could be had, but it seems the same few always seem to ruin it one way or another. >:(
OMG, here we go again!!The posts above prove my point. >:( I'm sure this ,like others, will soon be locked because some don't have the maturity, ability , or respect to refrain from their usual remarks.
no big deal, it's kinda like when you tried to convince everyone that grandpa was a monkey.
some disagreed and the arguments began.
I never tried to convince anyone of the like- go back and reread my posts[ slowly and carefully].
 ::)
We had a good discussion going until some ruined that one as well.

I've not changed opinion on anything based on what I've read here... but I have based on conversations in other parts. I'm less an ideologue than in years past.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

I can't see any more value in the parasite class other than their fertilizer value.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

I am in the same boat.  Very conservative (Libertarian really) for most of my life, but seeing value in a variety of opinions now.  The unbending dogmatic positions that are now popular on both sides are very interesting.  I wonder when we will crack and begin to compromise with each other??

Those positions - ideology, team politics, identifying with a movement - really suck. I think peeps are more alike than diff, but you'd never know it when they're entrenched, seeing others as Others and as the enemy.

no name calling here, and I'll remove the name to protect the guilty if asked, but take Mr. Bugeye - he thinks he disagrees with me on some things - we do, though prob a lot fewer than he thinks - so he lumps me in with libruls and PETA, because they're bad guys.

Me, in PETA?!?

that's what happens when ideology and team politics/religious identification trump thinking independently.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

I've just wasted several minutes of my life trying to clean this up.  If you like the topic, discuss it, and not each other.  If you can't understand the difference send me a PM and I'll try to explain it for you.

Nope! Not on this website. I do learn facts using different kinds of media that inform me in such a way as to change my thinking about a subject. There is good information here if one looks for it and doesn't know already. Not meaning to sound smarter than anyone else, (cause I'm not), but I've pretty much made up my mind with the information I've gathered elsewhere before I come here. It seems most here are that way and we only argue over our conflicting opinions on the information we have. Therefore, there is lots of head butting and sometimes lost tempers. Then too, are the posts from 'cyber space' or 'outer space' that add nothing to the discussion and are just meant to draw attention to the poster and inflame the conversation. Pointless and unproductive. Same as it is on all websites I guess. Though there are some masters at the art of world class trolling here. Don't have to look any farther than this thread for evidence of that...................

I have changed my mind several times on the various republicans running for the rep nomination for president. I see no clear winner, just a lot of mud slinging and coverup. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Something is definitely wrong with that guy.

But on the subject, I can't think of anything that has substantially changed my mind, or my principles.  As I see it, there is common sense conservatism and then there is a bunch of beliefs that are counter to common sense.  In other words, I'm right and anyone who disagrees with me is wrong.  Some will think I am narrow minded and not considerate of other ideologies.  I prefer to think when you're right you're right and I can't help it if I'm right.   ;D

Yes, why? Do you need a speaker for the local Klavern meeting?

Good luck on your hunting foray.

Thanks, OldSchool; see above. I'm feeling a little guilty. She was bigger when I shot her, than when I got there... ground shrinkage. We study that at our PETA meetings...

;D ;D ;D Thanks for the laugh, I'll have to remember that.

If you would destroy the parasite and you would be cannibalistic. That means you are a parasite. ;D
Please explain this statement.  Seriously, it doesn't make sense. ???   I really can't see how you got the last part from the first sentence. If your not a parasite, and don't eat the parasite.  How are you the parasite?
