Thompson Center Customer Service

 :(  What kind of service have you guys recieved from TCA? I purchased a new .357 contender barrel and it grouped high, above the adjustment of the sights. Returned to them they recieved it Aug. 9th and still no action. Are they allways this slow, it should not take 3 months to replace a front sight!! Two weeks till hunting. :-\  Thanks  Ideal 60

in the past customer service has been great i had a 12GA tky barrel
that shot high sent me a new front sight by FEDX had it in two days
now that S&W own it don't know  :(
kids that hunt and fish dont mug old Ladies
and drive a F150

You should call them today; in fact you should have called them before now.  I'll bet there has been some sort of mix up.

Question along those lines....and I don't mean to take over the original poster's intent....Does TC still have a custom shop?  I know when there were certain people working in the custom shop, I used to get immediate attention and I really didn't know them from "Adam"...it was just the way these few individuals ran things over there.  Now I hear it's a different story. 

Has the custom shop re-opened and is it once again what it used to be a few years ago???

TCA does not do the customer service. 
 
If they had only mistakenly installed the wrong sight height on the barrel, either front or rear (which you could have checked), I would have just requested that they send me the correct replacement height and changed it myself.   If it had the right sight heights then it did need to go back to TC.
 
While TC has always had times when they were slow for some things some times, but as Mr G suggested a call to them a long time ago would have been a good idea.   With the move this year they may still be bogged down, or your job misplaced in the shuffle.   I've heard of other folks getting much faster service than this despite the move though.

That has never happened to me with T/C but my strategy would be to write down names/dates and then hold their feet to the fire when they don't call back.

I had a locking bolt break on an Encore barrel recently. Called T/C and asked for a set of bolts and wanted to buy 3 trigger springs for Contenders. They shipped all the parts to me at no charge! Took about 1 1/2 weeks 'cuz the trigger springs were out of stock. Great service in my opinion!

I ordered a locking bolt and spring from E B Brown and although they shipped it quickly and I received it within two days, I paid $35.00 for it.
I guess next time I'll put the call in to T/C.

I had a locking bolt break on an Encore barrel recently. Called T/C and asked for a set of bolts and wanted to buy 3 trigger springs for Contenders. They shipped all the parts to me at no charge! Took about 1 1/2 weeks 'cuz the trigger springs were out of stock. Great service in my opinion!

I have had nothing but great service from them. I always call. I have always talked to someone who made me feel like they knew exactly what the fix was which has always turned out to be true. Back in the 80's I purchased my first handgun it was a used Contender with a scope on it. I decided I wanted iron sights on it. I called and told them what the barrel was. I was asked for my address. When I questioned about them needing my credit card number I was told it would be no charge. My parts arrived in a few days. I had a Super 14 Alloy II 30-30 Win. Contender I piped bombed. I contacted them, sent them the pieces and they sent me a release letter which I signed and returned. Within 2 weeks I had a new gun just like the one I blew up. I purchased an Encore 20" 20 ga barrel from Fox Ridge Outfitters, who I believe are no longer in business at least months ago when I checked they were not, It did not have sights on it. I contacted T/C explained what I had and a few days later with no charge to me I received my parts. Same barrel shooting my preferred turkey loads a bit high. I contacted them explained my problem, supplied them the measurements of my front sight. Again with the same results. So personally I see them as having excellent customer service, knowledgeable staff and quality products. No need to shy away from them.

I've always had good luck with them also.  Even recently I sent my G2 frame for repair and it was back within 2 weeks.
However, nowadays they seem to be reluctant to send parts because of liability and lawyers.  I know how to completely dissasemble my G2's as well as the Old Style Contender and make minor repairs myself.  The trigger on my G2 broke in half right where the little kicker spring is postioned.  They would not send me a trigger, even though I told them I had already removed the broken trigger and could do the job myself.  All was well, though...as I said the repair was done and back to me in about 2 weeks.
I always call ahead and discuss my problem with a technitian first.  I just take the attitude that "even though their products are outstanding (which they are), anything can break (which can happen), and that I can't wait to get my Contender back into action".

I emailed them about locking lugs and spring for a contender and missing chokes for a 20 ga. barrel. recieved email  back 4 hours later and they said they would get them sent out.

My trigger and action was received at the MA site on Dec1 . Just wondering what a  fair wait time would be to call and ask for a update?.

You've referred to the TCA (Thompson Center Association). Is that what you mean?
The TCA doesn't build or service guns or barrels. Did you return it to the TCA or to Thompson/ Center, now Smith & Wesson at the Springfield Mass. S&W location?

I don't think the restructuring can be blamed any longer for service concerns.  Process should be established by now.  I wouldn't expect a problem based on other replies here and elsewhere.

I will wait six weeks and then give them a call for update.I would think that would be fair.
