Should a teacher be fired.....?
« on: October 23, 2011, 06:25:50 PM »
   Should a teacher be fired for speaking out on their own time.. against hunting and trapping ?
  I don't think so..   After all, that's what the 1st amendment is all about ?

         So why do these tyrant/censors feel empowered to do this ?;

For the left the 1st amendment only applies if you agree with them and their adgenda.
A senator was accused of asking out young pretty staff members he was not married and was about 50 at the time.
The left made him resign as they claimed sexual harrasment could be taking place ans the young ladies are not sure if they can say no.  The ones that did say no he never asked again.  But they claimed the seriousness of the charge requires the Senator to step down.
One of thier members was accused of sexual harrasment and rape and they (the same womans group) went after the women calljng them all kinds of names.
Fair is when they win, and unfair is when you use the same rules against them.

Perhaps he should have been like Slick Willy, and not ask them out...
Then the next time the girls are asked..they can say.."No thanks, I gave at the office".

I wonder if any of these leftie groups were all in a sweat back then ?

I don't see where the teacher said anything about hunting.

Should Viki Knox be fired. I don't see why. Being a dingbat is not illegal, and doesn't necessarily detract from one's ability to teach. But it sounds like she doesn't know much about cancer, or about people who are gay.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

A Christian has to disapprove of homosexual conduct.  They don't have to disagree with homosexuals.  Sin is sin.....all are sinners.

I don't know that the Constitution gives you the freedom of speech when you're in someone else's home, or business.  As an example,  if your comments (speech) are offending customers such that it might cause them to leave and you continue to offend after being warned ....  My daughter recently had to let one of her employees go for just that reason.

Matthew 18:23-35 is an interesting story.  I once felt the need to speak up on the conduct of others, but then I realized I had no right to do so.As Jesus said to the preachers.....Let he that hath no sin, cast the first stone.

This teacher should not be fired for posting an item on a Facebook page.  I think that the issue will come down to whether or not (1)school system resources were used when the post was made, (2) she made the post in the capacity of a school system employee or (3) referred to something within the school system that would conceivably give them jurisdiction over her Facebook page.

If none of those three apply, and if there is no clause in her contract giving the school system absolute power over her life, I think she may have a good legal claim if they try to fire her.      The recent federal court ruling regarding the restuarant employee (I think it was Applebee's) made a specific statement regarding her supervisor and the supervisor's behavior in a management capacity.  The court ruled that the employer can fire the employee because it involved the company's perceived image.

Maybe dukkillr will read this post, and give us some legal analysis.

The teacher shouldn't be fired but the superintendent and school board should be for letting such a thing being posted in there schools. We all sin but we don't have to promote it.

Would there even be an issue or would we even be hearing about this had the teacher spoken out against hunting and trapping or the second amendment or had been spewing anything else related to the liberal agenda?

Guess you boys are gonna have a problem with your darling of future presidential candidates!

Gov. Chris Christie said he is concerned about statements made by Viki Knox, a high school teacher whose anti-gay Facebook comments set off a debate about free speech and gay rights.
"I think that kind of example is not a positive one at all to be setting for folks who have such an important and influential position in our society," Christie said this morning on 770 WABC Radio. "I'm really concerned about those kinds of statements being made."
Christie said he finds the comments "disturbing."

  Thank you for illustrating my point so very well !
     Our corrupt school systems are teaching that such perversion is acceptable.. but this school system is even more corrupt than usual in that they want to keep teaching one view, but squash anyone they have the power to..just for personally disagreeing..  Isn't that censorship and even more perversion...upon the 1st article of the Bill of Rights ?

  Hey Crusty;
  Haven't you heard ? Christie isn't running...   He has endorsed Romney..not sure where Romney stands, but I have no doubt he is not as "sold out" to the perverts as badly as the Democrats, all of them... are.  We do know who has forced the military to accept his pervert 'kissing cousins' ..don't we !
  Some are so thick they can't get the analogy between the anti-hunting teachers and the anti-homosexual teachers !  Well, here it is in simple terms:
  We are hunters, because we choose to do that in our spare time..perverts are perverts, because they choose to do that in their spare time..  Libbies are supposed to be big defenders of choice..where are they in this case ?  Obviously they have an agenda and are forcing it on kids every day..
    And don't come around with that 'no choice' argument, unless you can furnish witnesses to arm-twisting or torture.. We BOTH have chosen our kicks !

    Crusty;
  What percentage of Democrats do you suppose are perverts ?

  Magooch;
   I am for constitutional freedom...  Your daughter should have the right to hire or fire whoever she wants.  One good reason for doing it would be simply because they are "bad for business".
    Back to the subject;.. A business owner or manager should be able to hire all perverts or no perverts..whichever they choose..  They should be allowed to staff their place with redheads if they choose..or fat, or skinny people if they choose.
    A school system is a different system however, it belongs to the taxpayers and at a minimum, they should have an imput in this teacher's case.
    School systems are not a competitive business, so any complaints about the teacher's attitude 'hurting business' is crap.
  Public school systems have a monopoly..   If they were in a "free market" situation, they may have a complaint.  ....But if they were in a competitive market, they would have to change greatly..or dry up and blow away..
