Shotgun Reloading Setups
« on: October 25, 2011, 04:26:51 AM »
How bout some pics of your shotgun reloading setups. I am restoring an old mec 600 and plan on mounting it on a 12x18 piece of doubled 3/4" plywood. Just wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks they used..

I remember one somewhere, where the person had mounted his press on the board, with a cake pan between them to catch any dropped shot or powder...

This is my short bench that handles all my shot shell stuff. It has a MEC 9000G, and a pair of JR's The 9000 was purchased for sporting clays and IPSC. One of the JR's is set up to load 2" hulls for IPSC matches and the other is a 28 gauge that I had to get just to afford to shoot my CZ Ringneck that I bought for my retirement present!!

There is a grooved cutting board under the press on the left to catch spilled shot/powder with a drain jar underneath the bench.

No pictures...I'm computer illiterate(just ask my wife). I mounted mine on a piece of plywood like you described. Mines pretty thick, maybe 3/4 stuff. I counter sunk the holes for the bolts from the back side and used wingnuts and lock washers on the top. I'd done mine like this originally so it would be portable.

Good thing about these forums is you can learn stuff if ya pay attention. I've had OOOPPPSS! before and cleaning up shot, particularly from carpet ain't no fun. I'd never though about using some kind of attached tray, like a large cookie sheet! Thanks, guys! My wife will be thrilled!

My 650 MEC is mounted on 3/4 plywood with 1 1/2 inch lath screwed onto it, all the way around, as a 3/4 inch lip to catch spills.

Mine is a bench made of 2x6's then the top was covered with a short sheet of 3/8 inch ply wood. the holes for the 2 9000G and the 600Jr are studs useing wing nuts and washers on top. For the RCBS rifle pistol press I had to add a small plate of steel to keep the studs from pulling thru.
Once that was all done some 2 inch PVC was cut in half on the table saw useing a jig I had made. the elbows and the one T was also halved. It was fit together then screwed to the table edge to catch spills and the shot rolled to the T half that dropped them into a 2 gallon plastic pail.

No pics at this point. My bench is a lot messier than the ones that have been posted.
I mounted my MEC Grabber on a piece of plywood and put a 9X14" steel baking pan between the press and the wood so as the catch and spillage. I did the same for a MEC 600jr.
