Another Hotel Cancels Event Critical of Islam

For the second time in less than a week, a major U.S. hotel has canceled an agreement to host an event on radical Islam’s threat to America’s freedoms, due to threatening messages to management.
The Preserving Freedom Conference, scheduled for Nov. 11 at the top-rated Hutton Hotel in Nashville, Tenn., features Robert Spencer, author and director of Jihad Watch, and Pamela Geller, a WND columnist, editor of the blog Atlas Shrugs and author of the book ”Stop the Islamization of America: A Practical Guide to the Resistance.” WND is a co-sponsor of the conference.
Steve Eckley, senior vice president of hotels for Amerimar Enterprises in Denver – the Hutton Hotel’s managing corporation – told WND it was his decision to cancel the event.
Eckley said he “wasn’t exactly sure what the content of the program was,” but he explained that he canceled it because of the threat of physical harm to people at the hotel.
“They were veiled threats that there were going to be protests that could easily erupt into violence,” he told WND in a telephone interview.
Sessions planned for the conference include “The European Experience” with Shariah, “Religious Persecution Under Shariah,” “The Dehumanization and Diminishment of Women in the West Under Shariah,” “The Muslim Brotherhood In America” and “Fighting Islamist Propaganda in the Media.”

It is best often to let the kooks speak and some people may fall for the stupidity (if that is what it is ) others will see the true kooks as kooks.  Why I have no problem with the OWS people speaking, the trashing of public parks is another thing, and any of the left usually show they are morons.

I'm aware of that C4...The hotel has the right and responsibility to keep their guests safe and happy and to continue a revenue flow; and keep property safe... free speech is a right they don't have to facilitate...This is not a libber - conservative issue....framing it that way is fascistic mind think actually to take away the Hotel owner's right to running a business as they see fit and replace it with Geller and Spencer extremist views.....that is fascistic..

Your missing my point here. I agree the hotel has a "Right" to not let people speak on their property. Their property is private and if they don’t want to do business with this group, that is their Right.

Excuse me what 'bomb threats'?....the WND only said 'veiled threats'....no mention of bomb threats were made by anyone according to the article...you are escalating the ballyhoo in suport of xenophobic agenda by making up stuff.  In fact, here is what the Hotel said in the WND article:

Asked to respond to charges that he was "caving in" to radical Muslims, Eckley insisted he had "no idea" what the sources of the threats "were complaining about."
"All I am responding to is the threat to my staff and my property," he said.
Eckley said that management received "several calls, emails, letters and personal calls."
He refused to divulge any names but said he was not aware of any organization being behind the calls.
Eckley said he didn't know if any of the threats came from Muslims. A few of the complaints, he said, came from regular hotel customers, who he knew were not Muslims.
 
 
There were no bomb threats mentioned in the article,,,veiled threats were mentioned,,,the sources were not known and may not have been from moslems....other guest complained who were not moslem.
 
This is looking more and more like a xenophobic self-inflicted publicity stunt...The Hotel did the right thing to avoid the whole mess. The TP and the xenophobes can continue their shebang at another venue, that's all.

When someone threatens your "Property" that is a physical threat. What are they going to do, say bad words about the property and the property is offended by that?
 
Use some common sense TM. It was a threat to blow the place up or cause it some physical harm and the people in it.

I never said I support these speakers. You posted the hotels statement and now that you've been confronted with the truth/under pining’s behind the statement, you running away from it.
 
Everyone knows why the hotel made the statement they did. As the statement says, they cancelled the event, not because of what the speakers are allegedly going to say, they cancelled the event because of threats from violent people.
 
Now, you can blame these speakers for the reaction, but condoning the violence is what I oppose and that’s what you’re doing, intended or not. Yes, the hotel has Right to cancel the event. But the terrorists don’t have a Right to threaten people and property and that’s what I’m extremely surprised you won’t admit.
