The president Americans would bring back if they could.
« on: November 01, 2011, 02:48:52 AM »
Poll: For economy fix, Americans pick Reagan over Roosevelt     Ronald Reagan beat out Franklin Delano Roosevelt as the former president Americans would like to see in the White House during these trying economic times, a new 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll finds.
Thirty-six percent of those polled said they wanted the Gipper to lead America out of the economic crisis, while 29 percent picked Roosevelt. Thomas Jefferson came in third place with the support of 14 percent of those polled, followed by Roosevelt’s successor Harry Truman at 8 percent. William Henry Harrison, who was inaugurated in March 1841 and died one month later, came in last with 1 percent support.
Reagan was the pick of 68 percent of Republicans, 16 percent of Democrats and 34 percent of independents surveyed. Sixteen percent of Republicans, 43 percent of Democrats and 26 percent of independents chose Roosevelt.
The poll also found that 68 percent of Americans think Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would make the best Democratic vice presidential candidate if Joe Biden doesn’t remain on the ticket next year. When asked what words they thought of when the heard the name Marco Rubio, 25 percent said “U.S. Senator” while 14 percent said “Major League Baseball player” and 7 percent said “Cuban musician.”
The poll was conducted September 28 and October 2 among 1,012 American adults.

Reagan was a standup guy, no bowing and scraping, never kissed a ring or a mans hand. He said what he meant, and meant what he said. Now the Reagan bashing can begin. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

I liked Reagan. He had a couple of bad policies but who is perfect? I would like to see a Reaganesque president again.

I would like to see a few presidents.
Ronald Regan was great.  He did have a few flaws he believed the democrats would honor a deal.
if we could get Early presidents like Jefferson, Adams, and Monroe up to date as to the modern technology, the history, and past the shock.  They would screem about what the Republic has become.  And we can hear from their lips that this was a nation of the people not a nation of politicians that are buying votes from the lazy and stupid.
Teddy Rosevelt too would be great to see back, although he would turn Iraq and Afgansistan into territories rather than leaving, much like Cuba and the Phillipines.  But with that can we bring back Generals from History too.  Pershing to over see the two and deal with rebellions.
Who I would most like to see is IKE.  He did nothing as a president.  He played golf and that was about it.  We need another IKE.  Some one to veto the stupid bills comming out of congress and not activly get in the way of the country.
What I would love to see is a combination of all 6 I mentioned.
Someone to stand up to the world and stop silly nonsense (Jefferson, Monroe, Regan, TR and Jackson)
Some one to get the government back on track as the founders and framers intended ( Jefferson, Adams)
Finally Kennedy.  He is the lefts Icon.  They hold him up to ideals he did not profess.  By todays standards Kennedy was a conservitive.  How can the liberals argue with one of thier Icons.
And Finally Nixon.  So he can yell that he made a mistake with the EPA and recind the whole agency.
Maybe to fix the government we could bring back 5, 7 or 9 of our greatest presidents and have them run it like the supreme court. Looking at each segment of the Government and either eliminating it, modifying it, or leaving it alone.  Simple majority like the court wins.

In my lifetime, it would be Reagan. If from the distant past, Jefferson. And, actually mcwoodduck, Ike wasn't that bad. He did round up the illegals and ship them back in his first term. Plus, set up the Interstate highway system as we know it today. gypsyman

in the book that I have, he took a lot of long range shots and if the game bolted, he'd say, I guess I missed. maybe.
on one elk trip he shot about 25 bulls, but shot cows for meat.

Teddy's favorite rifle was a mod 1895 in 405 Winchester, uhh Roosevelt I mean. Any of those mentioned above would be great, and they were all true Americans. I would have liked to have met TR. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D

Jefferson would have undone half this mess coming out of Washington and eliminated the debt before it became insurmountable; something Reagan never attempted even though he talked a good game.
The sole purpose of government is to protect your liberty. The Constitution is not to restrict the people, but to restrict government.  Ron Paul

The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first. - Thomas Jefferson

Reagan is my first choice, also.   I will, however, go rogue and say that Lincoln would be a good choice given the situation the "useful idiot" has placed this country in.
