You couldn't pay me to vote for Mitt Obamnney. Newt's record on gun control isn't too impressive. All Cain talks about is how he's going to replace one tax with other taxes. Perry is another illegal alien supporting version of Juan McAmnesty.

Wow, some really great choices to choose from. You gotta love maintaining the status quo. ::)

I won't vote for Obama or Romney, I'm not here to hold up the Republican party if they don't deserve it.  If they nominate Romney the reps will go down again, and they will deserve it.  So if your a Republican you might want to get hold of the leaders of the party and let them know, it's up to Republicans to fix their problem.  Their job is to attract me as a voter, not hope that Obama is so bad I will vote for another socialist with a Republican stamp on their head.  I won't...and that is that.  Obama won't do any more to me than Romney will.
exactly.
us920669, the problem is that there are some here who would rather give up than compromise.  If they can't get exactly what they want, they're just going to take their ball and go home.  I don't like compromise either, but I like losing (or surrendering) even less.
it isnt giving up.   the reasons have been stated; i dont need to do it again and again.  you get the idea or you dont.   you are certainly free to agree or disagree.

For those who would vote for that infestation in the white house.
Do yourself a favor take deep breath of fresh clean air and just stay home.
That way if the infestation wins you can still respect your self in the morning ;)

That's the part I just can't get.  I could understand not voting.  I could understand writing someone else in (even Mickey Mouse).  I can't understand preferring obama over romney.  Even if everything being said about romney was correct, that would just make him "obama lite".  Bad, but still not as bad as the original (especially since obama would be a lame duck at that point and poised to raise the craziness factor by 10).

i earned the right to vote and i am going to vote for somebody, you can believe that.

How did you earn the right to vote?
When I turned 18 they gave me the right to vote. 8)
It was earned by some old guys long time ago and they passed it down. ;D
They also passed down the right to not vote if we so choose. ;)
But voting isn't about rights it's about duty. It is our duty as a free people to make decisions that will preserve the freedom and rights that were given to us. It is our duty to make sure those rights and freedoms be delivered intact to the next generation. It is our duty to vote for leaders that will be good for our country and will preserve those rights and freedoms. Not the lesser of 2 evils not the one who will be less harmful to our rights and freedoms. If the candidates are unfit and a threat to our liberty than we are derelict in our duty if we vote for either of them.

wrong.   your rights have been earned.   some by our forefathers, some by the old guys, some by people your age, some by mine, and some by soldiers  younger than me.   future soldiers will earn that right, too.  nothing is given; everything has been or will be paid for in blood.

i agree with ya on this conan.   romney is what the republicant establishment is pushing.   and if he would win, it would be obama all over again.  only, romney would be able to do more damage.
the way i see it, everyone is sick of obama and he is pretty much a lame duck.  he has already done the damage, and people are onto him and he cant really do much more because of it.   romney on the other hand, could continue to push the current agenda.
if the republicants put up milktoast mitt romney, i will vote for obama.

I won't vote for ORomney. But living in MN my vote doesn't matter for president.

Billy, technically none of our votes for President or Vice President matter. Americans are too uneducated to choose our president, so that is left to the elite. It's been that way since 1845. Isn't democracy grand? Oh wait that's undemocratic. Yet folks don't seem to worry much about it.

It seems to me that there is a way to go before we even know who is going to be the Republican candidate and by the time we get there, we should know a lot more about what they stand for.  At the moment, Romney wouldn't be my first choice, but to equate him with the idiot who is pretending to be the leader of this country at present is dumber than anything yet.  Even dumber would be to vote for that punk.

If anyone is expecting someone perfect to show up and run for President, you're going to always be disappointed.  We aren't electing a God, we're electing a person.  By the time anyone reaches the age to qualify for President, they will probably have changed their mind and philosophy many times--depending on the subject.  Believe it, or not, I've actually changed my thoughts over the years.  But I've never been tempted to vote for a Dumycrat, no matter how bad the Republican might seem to be.  I don't care what anyone says, or thinks, even John McGore would have been a good President compared to the punk.

I don't even want to look at Romney, I can't imagine voting for him, it should go without saying that Obummer is a joke. Romney is one of the few that will force me to go 3rd Party.

I can't imagine voting for him either, it's scary that any conservatives would consider voting for the person who broke new ground when it comes to forcing Americans to buy insurance. I will most definitely vote 3rd party if he gets the nomination.

The 12th amendment put the electoral college into play.

Before the 12th Amendment came along, Article II of the Constitution provided for electors.

Quote

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

(The Electors shall meet in their respective States, and vote by Ballot for two persons, of whom one at least shall not lie an Inhabitant of the same State with themselves. And they shall make a List of all the Persons voted for, and of the Number of Votes for each; which List they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the Seat of the Government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate. The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President, if such Number be a Majority of the whole Number of Electors appointed; and if there be more than one who have such Majority, and have an equal Number of Votes, then the House of Representatives shall immediately chuse by Ballot one of them for President; and if no Person have a Majority, then from the five highest on the List the said House shall in like Manner chuse the President. But in chusing the President, the Votes shall be taken by States, the Representation from each State having one Vote; a quorum for this Purpose shall consist of a Member or Members from two-thirds of the States, and a Majority of all the States shall be necessary to a Choice. In every Case, after the Choice of the President, the Person having the greatest Number of Votes of the Electors shall be the Vice President. But if there should remain two or more who have equal Votes, the Senate shall chuse from them by Ballot the Vice-President.) (This clause in parentheses was superseded by the 12th Amendment.)
