I have been keeping the tally from this years success only, not that past years isn't great, it would just get very hard to keep it straight. So if you read from page 1 the numbers in the total only include the calibers from this or the most recent (spring bear) hunt. Still cool to hear about the numbers of success stories. Sorry to leave you out but in the first post I did say this years hunt. (CWs totals were out too, but he just posted to boost the thread along, I expect more from him once this falls season starts for him)

well, got in the tree at 6:30 this morning and at 6:45, a spike walks up at 20 yards and the 308 handi dropped him in his tracks. 10 mins later, a bigger buck slips in behind me but doesn't offer a shot. 9:49, 6 does step out at 130 yrds and 10 mins after that , another bucks slips in behind me again and again, no shot. Oh, well maybe 2morrow. My son shot a doe with the 50 huntsman during smokepole season too. Hunter 1, mark 4 and counting.

Good Pics. I don't hunt much anymore but I still think about it and love to talk about deer hunting. The thing that impressed me in your deer pics. was that you must be one strong man the way you are holding the deer up with only one hand, very impressive. lol

lol, While I'm not a weak or small man at 6' and 235#, but I am actually holding on to the rope he's hanging from.

I'd have to be REAL strong to hold a 150# deer up like that. hehe I guess the sunlight overpowered the area at the top of the picture to where the gambrel hook and rope aren't obvious. lol

Just got in from this mornings hunt and didn't see a lot of deer only an old doe and a yearling and one small forkhorn buck.

About 8:30 I heard turkeys talking to each other not far away so I had loaded some cartridges yesterday for my 45-70 using 405 grain LFNGC bullets over 15.7 grains of Trailboss powder, and figured I'd try them if I got a chance at some turkeys.

I ejected my deer load and placed one of my turkey thumpers into the chamber. In about ten minutes I had ten gobblers cross the jeep trail about 50 yards out and one made the mistake of stopping.

The tom had a nine inch beard and is a pretty good sized Rio Grande gobbler.

45-70 adds to the count!

Add one more to the 44 mag talley... this 10 point buck came to about 7 yards after I hit my Primos Can call a couple of times this morning. Neck shot from the Talo with a 240 grain Winchester Dual Bond dropped him on the spot.

He was shooting my USH 20Ga shooting Hornady SST 2 3/4"

Seriously!.....Look at the length of that hind leg in relation to the overall length of that USH.

also you can get an idea of the girth of that doe, and that fella holding the does ears sure looks small.

How 'bout this one and my "Fortune 500" S&W. There was not much blood or sign where he was standing when I fired, the only way I located the exact spot was the CRATER in the ground behind him.

Sorry I dont know how to post pics. Got a small doe this afternoon, and 20 minutes later I got a 160# (dressed) 10 pointer. 44mag strikes twice today!
