357 MAXI DOES THE JOB

I GOT THIS 7 POINTER TODAY AT 10.30AM AND IT WENT ABOUT 20 YARDS. I SHOT IT QUARTERING TOWARDS ME AND THE BULLET NEVER MADE AN EXIT BUT THE WHOLE INSIDES WERE TORE UP, WHEN I GOT TO THE DEER IT WAS BALL HEADED, WHEN IT FELL THE BOTH ANTLERS CAME OFF, NEVER SAW THAT BEFORE.  THE 357 MAXI DID THE JOB GREAT AT 75 YARDS

9 Dec 2011 3:02 pm; 10 pt A 207 lbs. (legally, 8 pt by most standards) 75 yds running, no food plot, lazer range finder, bait, or shooting house/treestand.  Used a less than max load of AA2520 under a 325 FTX with the Buffalo Classic.
10 Dec 2011 9:20 (ish) am; 1,100 lb Holstein steer my neighbor shot 8 times with a .22 for butchering.  The bullets didn't hold up well at all.  First to the head detonated; second while running into the cervical vertabra dropped it cold. 
I keep trying to upload a picture but it has been difficult......

 my 45/70 trapper with its 18.75" barrel and my leupold s.a.b.r. ultimate-slam 2-7x33 with fake case hardend receiver
and camo syn's................ i think itsa whitetail kill'n machine. yesterday makes 5 its took
anywhere from distances from 40 to 115yrds. freehand or shoot'n house window sill rested.
handloaded 405gr remington jsp with 32gr imr-4227 @ 1550fps....
so far i snuck up on 2 plots with deers feed'n... got there attention witha foot scrape,
and head lifted towards me... then flop-job ;D   no needta blood-trail.
got one in neck @ 55yrds and tha other in high front shoulder from 115yrds.
the rest was from a rested support. tha freehanded ones are amazing results !!! ;D
 
ya jus gotts know what your shoot'n iron's limits and performances are.... it takes
time behind tha trigger and research behind the press and bench.
 
yall wanna see them 2 shots for evidence?
 
why would anyone want more inna shoot'n iron !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
i've got many other kinds.... but i enjoy these handi's cuz ima 1st class holic !!!! ;D 8) ;)   55yrds freehanded     115yrds freehanded this critter wasa eat'n my prize turnip greens !!!!!!!!!!! :o

CORRECTION- If we go back and look at where I clarified what counts and doesn't I used the words GAME and HUNT.... This should remove one count from the 45-70 -the cow. Granted it is a bunch of meat on the table, it isn't a hunted Game animal. So as much as I wanted a caliber I have to be on top... there is a tie the 45-70 and the Maxi are tied.

I got a 75lb doe friday the 9th....a 145lb 6pt sat morning and a 130 lb doe sat evening
all with my 45-70 using iron sights(don't use scopes) at between 125 to 200 yds with Winchester 300 gr HP's

444 strikes again. Doe this evening,little over a hundred yards I reckon. She might have gone 20 feet. 265 Hndy flex tip,healthy dose of  H 4198 ,R-P cases.Just got done with the skinning and icing down.

No pictures, but I can chime in with a couple.  Nice doe, 45-70 Shikari.  About 40 yds, bang flop.  Neck shot.  Two weeks ago, my son and I doubled up on hogs.  He shot a big sow, about 225 lbs.  Shot his on saturday evening.  Sunday morning, I shot a sow, about 165 lbs.  We were using the twins, a pair of 444 Marlin Handi Rifles.  We were using my home cast 310 gr GC bullets, from a Lee mold, over a full case of H 335.  Go big bores!

I totally agree with the total correction Janitor.  It was a mercy killing, not hunting.  The picture I tried to post had both in the frame, and I wanted to explain the Speckled Buffalo hanging in the back ground  :-[ .  The FTX bullets did not hold up well at all on the buck or the Holstein, but thats a topic for another discussion.

Score another in the Maxi!!  (My 180 XTP hand load with 1680 powder thru and thru one shoulder blade and ribs on exit. Dime going in better then a quarter coming out, 75 yards. My buddies kid connected on a nice buck!!!

Saturday Dec.17,17.5in barrel,357mag-167lb pig,facing me 40yds,bang/flop.1hr later 2 100lb pigs,lined up sholder shot,2 pigs down with 1 shot.4hrs later med size Turkey at 15yds,head shot.A good day with the 357 handy.(180gr cast,16.2gr h110,shortened rem.357max cases)Got the 357 barrel in a trade the prev.Tuesday!Love these guns.

A 223 uvf kill from this year. The yotes were keeping my grandmother up at night. I let my dad use my rifle while I had my shotgun. I need to get him his own. ::) :)

just saw this thread,havent really been on gbo in a while.dont have any pics but my 13yr son filled all three of his doe tags in the PA youth hunt with his 30-30 handi.i came up short with my handi talo 357 mag. :o

I've noticed things slowing down a little also around here, but everyone is running around trying to keep momma happy, and when momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy, if you know what I mean. ;)
 
It should start picking up again after Christmas and the holiday blah's wear off! :P
