I'm looking for some good " proven "bullet -powder combinations for Moose in Newfoundland in a 24" T/C Encore. Has anyone used the 270 for Moose? I thought 150 gr. Noslers would be ok , but I've read that the 130 gr bullets work seems light :D to me ? Thank you for your help.

Nosler 150grs will be fine for moose, reload using H4831 or R22, remember shot placement regardless of caliber is critical. Good luck and happy hunting.

At one time I would have said use the 150 for the big stuff. Currently, with the new "super" bullets I would use the 130gr for everything.

150's would work good, I'd try an A-Frame or a Partition Gold moly free, over RL22 or h4831, also, a 140 gr. Barnes TSX could work great :grin:

although i havent shot a moose, the 270 should do the job quite well. if it were me, i would use nosler 150 grain partitons, or 160 gr. partitions. the partitions might not be needed; but i wouldnt think using them would hurt your cause on these big fellas. i get my best velocities with imr 7828 and cci large rifle magnum primers. each gun is different; and the only way to even guess where your at is using a chrony. book velocities are only a crude referance. sometimes they are right on, other times they are way off. good luck from an envious sportsman!

I have seen a very large Roosevelt Elk dropped in it's tracks with a facing straight on 100m neck shot with 150gr Partitions (Fed. factory). I have also personally shot a bull moose broadside 150 metres with a 130 Barnes X and it tracked perfectly straight through the kill exiting the other side. That moose dumped over within 10 yards.
