Can 7-30 Waters case be converted back to 30/30 ?

I got rid of my 7-30 Waters and discovered I had dozens of 30/30 cases that I had converted to the 7-30 Waters.  So can I  convert them back to 30/30?

Might be less stress on the brass to sell or trade them for 30-30's..how many do you have?  I might be interested if you decide to go that route.  I believe the shoulder is where the problem will be..trying to move it back seems like a good way to stress the brass.

About 137 or 138. I haven't fire-formed all of them, fact is some are still primed & loaded with powder and cream of wheat with paper towel stuffed into end. These have all been shot before in the 30/30 form or the 7-30 Waters before being chambered for the Waters. I may have some more once fired 7-30 Waters cases in my storeage also.

If I can get one more loading out of them after converting them back to 30/30 then it would be worth more to me than selling them, but thanks for the offer.

Try it. The fireforming loads should be especially easy. Just fire them in the 30/30.

Really, why would you want to "convert" them back to 30-30?
 
That may be one of the most common once-fired brass available...
 
I wouldn't even mess with it...

I have to say I agree.. when I stopped playing with the 7-30... I placed the brass in a box and moved them to the back of the brass shelf...

personaly id just give them to the guy that bought your waters. 3030 brass is just to easy to find.

Just out of curiosity, I tried to take a 7-30 Waters case and put it back to 30-30 specs…

Although the pic may not be the best, there are dents/wrinkles at the new shoulder and there is a ring around the new neck where the base of the neck in the Waters used to be…

My concern would be that that ring might be a weak spot and when fired, that bit of the neck might break and let that piece of brass move forward or maybe even up the barrel…

The next round fired—well, who knows…

I would guess theyd be fine. The 3030 is a relitively low pressure round anyway and i doubt it would hurt a thing. If you were talking a 300 wby or something else that runs real high pressure i may be a bit more conserned and even think about re anealing the case if i was dead set on not throwing them in the scrap bucket.
