The legal system is out of control...as are these particular officers.  I don't understand the rationale that....if you are carrying a legally permitted fire arm  that constitutes cause for searching for more firearms????

Scary

Disgusting

As long as jury's are made up (selection) of people who appear not to be able to think, we'll see more and more cases like this. How quickly the DA's office resorted to discrediting the plaintiff with character charges not even remotely associated to the case. The case was Constitutional Rights, not whether someone is adament or overzealous about their Rights. Another jury I would have been proud to sit on, the outcome would have been different. Mindless jurors who live in a establishment save us world. Sounds like alot of Admiralty law dispensed in this case.

If Mr. Lawler, appeals the case as his attorney threatened to do, there is the possiblity that he would win on appeal.
Mr. Lawler just lost his case in the lower court (District Court), that doesn't necessarily mean that he will lose at the next level (Courts of Appeal).  The main problem I foresee is, if Mr. Lawler without assistance from the ACLU (ironic isn't it), will have sufficient funds to pay the legal bills to pursue the case.
If he wins, all is well, since loser pays for all court costs on appeals in Federal court.

and some people wonder why not all of us completely trust the government (entire system - not just this or that cop)

and for his bumperstickers? absolute CRAP to say boo about anyones ideas or statements....

this is why my primary HD gun isn't my 'favorite' gun. i know it will be taken away from me (by the powers that be) if i ever (God forbid) have to defend myself.

grrr - now i need to go take a hot bath to relax myself!

The thing that stuck out most to me:

$800 Glock 17.

That is nonesense! Try $550 around here at the most expensive shops!

This is what you get living in Philly. Not exactly a low crime area. Kudos to him for trying, but personally I would have taken the 25k and moved my butt to a more rural area on the cities dime. He needs a lawyer who is seasoned in gun legislation to get any further.

But still, $800 for a G17? wow!

I don't know if you guys ever watch the Outdoor Channel's shows like The Best Defense, and Shooting Gallery, but Michael Bane is an advocate for ratcheting down the tension level.  When your pulled over and the cops run your plates, it automatically tells them that your a CC permit holder and you may have a gun on you.  This is going to ratchet up their threat level.

If you are carrying a gun on your person the best thing you can do to avoid this situation is to remain calm, hands on 2 and 10 on the wheel, inform the officer immediately that you are carrying a permitted weapon on your person or vehicle and then ask them how to procede.  Proceed in the manner they tell you to and chances are that something like this instance that happened between a PA man and the Officers would have never happened.

We've been responsible citizens by making sure we have the right to carry in our states and now we have to be responsible by being courteous to LE when approached to make sure our interactions remain civil so we don't have to re-fight for our rights again.
I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."

When going to Canada to hunt I make sure there are no NRA stickers on my truck. I have been told by several they had their truck serched because of the sticker. I don't doubt it as I have been ask how many handguns I own and why at the border crossing. Last crossing took 4 hours and there was no line.
If ya can see it ya can hit it !
