I just use a standard rifle rest....u-shaped bag on an adjustable platform....with small bags under my hands and pistol grip,  works for me.    I tried a MGM pistol rest once...ok for .22s but under heavy recoil the entire rest moved around......not good.  Really isn't rocket science , just a solid rest of some sort that won't move....even sitting with elbows on your knees will work..have fun ;D

For me, off the bench...a Bulls Bag is unbeatable....off the hood of my F-150(or the window sill or tailgate)...shot bag filled with plastic pellets....walking in the woods...Stoney Point walking stick w/ shootin' sling 8) .

After trying every design under the sun (and some not) over the years, for bench or off the hard tonneau cover on my F150 I use Harris swivel lock bipods and my off hand to support/elevate the butt; I have a fully adjustable window clamp on rest for out the truck window (like a camera tripod head); on stands predator hunting its homemade folding sticks or Vern Howey sticks; walking while still hunting a custom walking staff with a howling coyote carved top.    Still have a Wichita mechanical rest with multiple bags, various commercial and homemade front and rear bags, but have not used them for many years.   Have a camo bulls bag as well, but never used it even once.   Bought it for it's shoulder strap for hiking into rock chuck hunting areas in the high country (hint: don't fill them with black sand like I did - mucho heavy).   ;)

Nothing works as well as a penny or shot bag full of plastic or styrofoam beads.

If it's a super 14 inch barrel, then I'm with Hopalong.  Nothing beats a "field model" Bulls Bag for shooting the Contender or Encore from the bench.

Only problem I have with bags is they don't work well with revolvers.Especially the bigger ones like a 460 S&W.The muzzle blast ruins the bags.Thats why I am looking for a rest.

Any rest with bags is going to get damaged by revolvers eventually.

You might check out MTM's pistol rest, or you could make a Bower type pistol rest yourself.   Both are for bench use, but both have grip support too for the total handgun support you are looking for.
