Does anyone else have trouble finding AA1680 ? Looks good for Max load. I've tried searching my area in the thumb of Michigan, with no luck, or just havn't found the right place that has it. I kind of hate to order some with all the extra shipping charges.

Ipyrek .. I wanted to use this powder in my playing with the 7.62x39 cartridge and had a heck of a time finding anyone with it in stock , eventually I found Wideners having some on hand and jumped on it ... Haven't checked their powder listing in a while, but you might want to give them a look. And as for the haz charge .. Well just buy some more wants to make it worth your while ;)

Dinny,

This load: "28gr of AA1680 with the Hornady 180gr SS-PB" you posted.  Does it fill the case or even a compressed charge?
Think as if you LIFE depends on it... IT does..!  Be Well...

rd, first I'll say that you guys with a Handi have the advantage of an open breech, mine is a small Martini and I have to contend with the curvature of the breech block.  I discovered that certain bullet profiles required me to seat to the crimp groove in order to clear the block.  At 28gr AA1680 this resulted in a compression of 5/32" measured.  Other profiles allow me to seat much further out giving very little to no compression.  The compressed loads did not give any indications of pressure problems, but I have a hang-up about compressed loads so the bullets that need deeper seating are religated to use with 4227, 2400, etc. that need less case room.  In the Handi you should wind up with little to no compression of powder and the case will probably fill just about to the base of the bullet.  Hope this helps.  Goatwhiskers
