How do you clean inside your dies?
« on: November 07, 2011, 08:01:53 AM »
Just wondering if or how you go about cleaning the inside of your dies, and how often?

I've got Lee rifle dies and carbide pistol dies.  I try to insert cleaned brass but I am sure it's not as clean as it may look...

Hello, tacotime.  What I did was turn up a little cleaning rods out of  3/16" & 1/4" dia. nylon rod, complete with "toothed" jag on end.  You could just as well use a small dia. brass cleaning rod & jag.  I try to swab out with Hoppes after each sesson..especially the full length dies, to remove case lube..so as not to attract dust.

Same here, I have a couple round brushes.

Usually on a warm day in Febuary or March when cabin fever is peaking and I can get out in the garage and cast bullets.. At least thats when I do most of my casting of bullets and fishing weights. More often if I load excessively.
