90 grain jhp .356 in 38 special??

Any one ever loaded for this or 357 magnum. I am using Unique powder. I have come across several of these bullets and have been wondering how they would do in a 357 handi or even a .38 LCR. I have found load data for 110 gr jhp .358 for both. Any input would be helpful.

You may have accuracy issues, seeing how it's .001" undersize. Not an issue in an LCR but probably in a Handi.
If you want to shoot super light bullets perhaps you should get some cast .380 rounds sized at .358. I know Dardas offers them, perhaps others will as well.
You'll be limited at how fast you can send these without a gas check but if you're looking for a light round for small game or soft recoil it  would probably work.

I have seen home defense ammo listed as low as 65 grains. I have been unable to find any load data for light bullets though and was wondering if any one had any. I have about 200 of these bullets and want to put them to use, I have loaded some in 9mm loads but have much more fun with the 38.

Since you already have the bullets and want to use them up you could either use 110 gr data or write the powder manufacturer for assistance.
It's perfectly safe to use data for a heavier bullet, just be careful to make sure you don't get any squibs.

Long ago I got a deal on a few hundred 115g 9mm bullets.  My S&W revolver slugged out to .356 so I loaded them in .357 mag cases.   They shot fine but they were nothing special.

If I had some 90g .356 bullets I'd save them for .380 auto and get by some Sierra 110g hollow points for the .38 special...

Long ago, Remington offered 90 gr soft points in .358. They were cute little bullets, and we loaded them in 38 Spl & 357 Mag. We got obscene velocities in .357 with 296 & H110. Alas, the bullets were discontinued, but could likely be somewhat duplicated with 9mm bullets, and a canneluring tool like the bullet swagers use. Shooting them with H110 gave a fireball much like giving birth to a new sun. When we shot them at the indoor range, bystanders would simply get up and walk out.

I too think the 356 dia would limit their accuracy. If they were heavier they might upset a little and work better, but I doubt it with bullets this short.

If they were mine I would either try to sell or trade them or use them for practice where accuracy is not a big factor. How much practice have you done shooting a fast as you can at short range? May be an important skill to have some day.

I have loaded and fired some 115gr .356 pills in my G2 carbine and a S&W 60. They were good enough for plinking and since the bullets were given to me, it seemed like the thing to do at the time. Free is a very good price!

I have seen bullets as low as 80 or 85 grain for home defense, figure they would work for that in the LCR. Supposed to be good for stopping someone but not exiting or going through walls. If nothing else, they should make decent plinking ammo. I have 5 loaded now but haven't shot any yet.

I have run into some real position sensitivity issues with Unique and light bullets. You might try shooting a few with the powder at the base of the bullet (i.e., barrel down). Don't forget your range rod. I'd recommend Bullseye or 231.

I haqve been using the RP 147GR hp'S .355 bullets in a 357 carbine.  Shoot great and very accurate to 100 yards; farthest i have shot them. They will bump up with any fast or medium type pistol powder. Have fun they sure will vaporize any varmints and milk jugs or plastic bottles filled with water  ;D   3leg
