OT A new Hunting Partner
« on: November 08, 2011, 03:06:51 AM »
Well guys, the Handi .38-55 and I will be hunting away from home and with a new partner this season.  Marcella is a close friend of Patty and I and lost her husband this past year.  Marcella is 84 and gets her buck almost every year with her old Winchester 94.  She has a "camp", she calls it that, but it is a fine old year round home on 120 acres about 20 miles from where she lives.  It's on a ridge overlooking the East Branch of the Fox River.  Deer moving north or south and wanting to stay in the hardwoods rather than swamp have to come through there.

Marcella didn't want to hunt alone and asked if Patty and I would come out for a few days and stay and hunt with her.  Well, we're doing it.  I'd rather hunt here at home, but at 84, who knows if Marcella will have another opportunity.  We'll keep ya posted.

The worst thing about it is it's two women and only one guy to nag ::)   On top of that, if we all get deer, I'll be busy for a week.

Spanky, buddy, not one of us can say we're gonna be around next season.  That's all in the Lord's hands.  I can say that Patty and I will do our best to help Marcella get her buck.  Perhaps one day, not too far in the future now, someone will help me.

Pete,
This decision doesn't surprise me coming from you and Patty, I bet you didn't even give it a second thought. You two are wonderful stewards of humanity. Another great example of why I hang my hat here at GBO.  :)

Good luck hunting!!
