« on: November 08, 2011, 04:10:31 AM »
I THOUGHT THEY WERE THE SAME COMPANY? i see rossi m92 are made in brazil and they show the m92 in 454 casull in there online catalog. then over at legacy sports they show there m92 made in italy and they dont show the 454 in there catalog. can someone educate me on these companies, as i am still trying to choose between the marlin 1894 in 44 or a m92 in 454 . thanks

Legacy used Rossi to make the Puma until a couple of years ago, they then started importing them from Italy which caused a price increase.

The Rossi`s are now carried by Braztech.

"Puma" is a trademarked brand name owned for many years by legacy Sports (LSI).

LSI contracted with Rossi (South America) to mark some of the Rossi M92 production as "Puma's"; but after that relationship ended, LSI contracted with Chiappa Arms (Italy), formerly Armi San Marco, to brand some of THEIR M92 production as "Puma's", along with some of Chiappa's Model 1886/86 clones.

The Rossi's are a very tough little rifle, stronger than the Winny's and Marlin's. I have 2(357 & 45colt) and love them. With a litle slick up on the action, they are also very smooth. Good prices still.
Thanks, Robert

"Better' is in the eye of the buyer.  ;)

The SA Rossi's are actually better built than the Italian Chiappa's

The Italian Chiappa/Puma's have more "bling", which is why the $$$$ - and their stocks are already wopped.  ;)
