What Kurt said, they're still a current product, the 17MII was discontinued tho.

Snuffer, you had better plan on buying two 17HMR's because they are addictive:) Yeah, the $175 price is about what I have seen also.

I have one, the 17 is a great little rifle, I saw one a few weeks ago NIB for 169.95, I also saw older NIB in stock Handie-Rifles for 229.00 to 249.00, this has been about a month ago before deer season opened, the new models were 269.00 to 299.00.

Thanks again, well I have to buy myself a Christmas present, don't I? ;)  This will probably be the last rifle I'll buy, yeah right!! ::) . Sorry I haven't been around for a while, but I'm also into competition archery ( 3-D). Hopefully seriously, it will be the last I'll buy for a while.

Think you will be pleasantly surprised when you get one.  Picked one up in a little trade a couple weeks ago and that thing shoots!!!

Seems the prices may have gone up since I bought mine about 5 years ago.  Caught it on sale at Gander for $130 plus gov.  Bull barrel with synthetic and had the scope base mounted.  I think it was some promo thing Gander was doing.

And yes, a tack driver.  Used it for my turkey shooting till I picked up a .204.   It didn't see any use this past season.
Even stripped the scope for the .204.   Wasn't where I could get a scope, so will order up a new one for it at some point.

The scope base comes mounted from the factory on both the 17hmr and 17M2(when is was available), they were both $130 when I bought mine new, like everything else, in the 7-8yrs since I bought them, they've gone up...... or been discontinued.  :-\
