Highlight of my moose hunt.
« on: November 09, 2011, 01:00:50 PM »
Yesterday has to go down as the highlight of my moose hunt this year. I was coming down off a ridge into an area that had been clear cut several years before.  Down toward the bottom I ran into a couple of guys dressing a cow. There was also an excited young man with what appeared to me to be down syndrome. He started telling me all about his moose and all the little particulars of his hunt.  The more he told the more excited he got and the bigger his smile got.  By the time he got done with his story I think I was happier for him than he was.  It just made my week to see him so excited about his hunt.

On a side note, I have seen nine so far this week. I passed on two bulls this morning that were 40 yards from me. Easy shots for the 44 If either would have had a decent rack.

Sometimes there are better things than our own hunt.  I know several people with DS and they are very special in their own way.  Thanks for sharing.

I've found over the years that sharing in someone elses hunt is at times more rewarding than hunting yourself, particularly if it involves someones first hunt. I get more jacked up seeing a kid get something while hunting than when I do.
Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. Hope your moose hunt ends in success.
