243 Rechamber ?

Have and old but hardly used 110 243.  First center fire my kids broke in on.  That was at least 15 years ago.  Has sat at the back of the gun safe since.  I plan on keeping the gun and just started loading some new rounds for it.   Has any one re-chambered theirs  into  6mm, 6mm AI or 6-284.  If so how did it turn out.
I realize this is not a first rate gun but other than a not so great trigger it shoots pretty good.

I haven`t done it yet, but I bought a new Shilen barrel just so I could rechamber it to 6-284. Going to a 6mm AI or a 6-284 should not require any more than expanding the chamber that is already there. To bad your not closer, I have a 6-284 reamer that I`ve only used once, so far.

Catfish.  I read on the NEF/ H&R forums were a lot of guys do their own rechambering.  The big advantage is a barrel removal takes about a minute.  I thought there was much more to this than I could do myself on a bolt action.  I was doing a web search for a gunsmith in my area to do the work but have not found one yet.  The H&R guys rent their reamers from a company call 4 D Products.  I was just trying to think of some way to revitalize my interest in this little gun with out spending to much.

First, if it never shot good it probly won`t after you rechamber it. I bought my own reamer for 6-284 because of the barrel life of them and the amount of shooting I do. You should have a lathe for taking a 243 out to 6-284, and predrill your chamber with a drill to save cutting and wear on your reamer. I do not use go and no-go gages but head space with brass that I have run through my dies. It`s not hard to do but don`t get in a hurry and try to get the proper deepth the first time.
