Good luck to everyone hunting on opening day of firearm season. Taking the .460 s&w pistol and muzzleloader out tomorrow.

sorry you cant hunt opening day. but sure do think you for serving. think ill just take my old 54cal. flint lock out. Dinny your like my son they have him in stationed in FORT CARSON CO. man i sure do miss hunting with him. but guess all birds leave the nest.

Dinny, Boss man says he keeps seeing bucks (one at a time) cruising behind 4 seasons. Maybe he will go hang out and wait on your property

Tomorrow I will be toting my Contender Super 14 and H&R both Maxi's. H&R took 2 last year so the Contender gets first shot

I usually hunt deer with my mother. She said she's gonna stay in this year, so I understand being missed. It's not easy for either of us.

Lonny, that bottoms land back there is full of good deer. The Muddy Creek keeps them watered when they're running crazy during the rut.

The good luck paid off!! My buck hunt was done at 735 am Whoop Whoop
8 point about 160lbs Mossberg 500, daughter took my H&R Maxi, I was shaking to bad for the Contender

nice buck lonny i busted a big doe at abot 8 yards running chalk one up for the 44 handi its first kill and first shot at a deer its batting a 100%

8 yards ? was you hand feeding it?

Went back out this evening, seen 3 bucks and 2 does. Does were out of range. One Buck was at 50 yards for like 5 minutes. He lost his doe. I think he new I used my Buck tag already

Nice buck Lonny and congrats notfastenough77. I was able to get my 10 yr old son on his first deer and he gave my Maxi its first kill.

Love it when the children get their deer. My boy (19) has been on a dry spell for a couple years. He does everything right, the deer just will not give him a break

I would have loved to have been out there this morning, but as my luck seems to go, I have lost yet another hunting spot.
Gets harder and harder to find a good spot and hang on to it.
Not thrilled about public lands, but may have to start checking into them.

I know what you mean. Our area is getting crouded. Myself and 2 of my kids set up on 2 fields. 20 min or so before shooting light we had 5 other people appear. After day light we found out there were 2 more in the next field over.

Its hard to give up on the place, every couple years we get a decent Buck. Usually get a couple does every year. Always get to see deer. But it is starting to look like we may need to move.

Well it all came together nicely yesterday morning. About 7:30 a nice fat doe walked out of a thicket 110 yards away from my blind, and having no venison in the freezer I decided to take her. She was facing me nearly head-on and froze in her tracks...she had seen me shift slightly trying to get a good angle on her. I steadied the Contender in my cross-sticks and centered her chest with the crosshairs, then squeezed the trigger. She went about 30 yards and it was all over. The bullet hit dead center and exited just behind her ribcage, took out the heart and one lung. I forgot the camera, and I cant seem to figure out how to get a cell phone pic on here. The computer doesnt want to let me transfer it over to another file for whatever reason. This morning brings high winds and rain here...so it looks like a good morning for a breakfast of tenderloins with biscuits, gravy, and eggs.

The oldest daughter and I went today and I shot a scrub buck with my muzzleloader. I shot a buck yesterday and looked all day yesterday and part of today for it with no luck.

Maxi claimed 2 more for the freezer Yessss. Doe and unfortunately a button buck. He didn't have buttons up yet, but he had the vital organs.
