Hello All.
I have some questions regarding a Topper Jr (20ga and 30-30), it has the youth stock, open sights and the receiver is multi-colored kind of like a case hardening.
Background. My brothers and I have shot this as a shotgun for over 20 yrs. I have only shot the 30-30 for probably 20 shots.
Last year we were noticing that the shotgun was having some failures to fire - meaning the firing pin wasn't hitting with enough force to ignite the round and just leave a small indent in the round. So my questions to you are:
Is there an easy way to strip the receiver to clean it thoroughly?
Do you think it is a firing pin problem or a cleaning problem (note the gun has been shoot quite a bit over the years but it has never been taken apart and cleaned other than the barrel)?
The trigger is very heavy (always has been) I see that there are do it your self instructions but if I was limited on time who would you recommend?
Also I was thinking of sending it in to H&R for a .223 barrel but I didn't know if they would but a new rifle barrel on a rifle/shotgun this old do any of know if they would do it and for how much and would I be better off just buying a new gun?
