Williams FPTK Gib lock screw

What is the best way to shorten the Gib lock screw so it wont contact the barrel of my Buff Classic? I am worried I'll ruin the thread. - Pete

I shorten base screws with a couple pieces of spring steel attached at one end and with holes in them to allow the screw to pass thru but hold the head. Then use I a dremel tool with a fiber cut off wheel.

I carefully ground mine down on a fine grinding wheel, but put a nut on the screw first so after you grind it shorter you unscrew the nut it helps clean the threads up
