Slow down your pace. The bullets were still semi-molten when you dropped them.

That's what I was thinking.  Kind of a ridiculous post.  So 45/70.gov, what happened after that drop?  Did you stop casting?  Did it keep doing it?  Your mold was too hot.  You need to slow down.  To learn about mold heating, read Veral Smith's book, Jacketed Performance With Cast Bullets!  Veral says to dip the corner until you see smoke, then count for...how many seconds?  I did for 20 and it worked great.

I cast by alternating two molds.  It keeps them from over heating.

If the lead flow is not continuous, the front part begins to setup and the back part is poured again that...

There can be a "fracture" where these two pours meet...

Kind of like dotted lines or stamp lines...

Just a thought...

Good-luck...

I think everything just got too hot, and they started throwing "rotten" bullets. No biggie, all you have to do is let things cool down a bit, then get back in the game, albeit at a slower pace.
