range day monday
« on: November 15, 2011, 04:08:13 AM »
:) :) range day yesterday took my 357 44mag and 223 i had shortened to  16 1/2 '' first took off all scope rails glued them all back on with j b weld then put lock tight in screws and tightened then mounted scopes and bore sighted.first off was the 357 i got back from remington this barrel really shots good shoots the factory loads like it's supposed to 1 -2 in groups easy it is a keeper now when i sent it to Remington had them fit 44mag barrel both barrel fit nice and snug the 44 shoots real nice 1-1 1/2'' bulls eyes easy at 50 yards very little scope adjustment. the 223 shorty dialed right in this is a handier handi now at 50 yards shoots clover leafs but heats up after 10 or so rounds groups move up and open up let  sit and cool down went right back to shooting the clover leafs.tried hitting a yote sized rock around 350 yards or better had no problem slapping it every time fun gun if you are thinking of shortening yours go for it i didn't even crown the barrel. on mine chopped it off with a sawsall fine blade smoothed it out on my bench disc sander a little cold blue done a little over 35 minutes also tape barrel before cutting  on good side tape helps in in cut to get straight. sorry this is so long i  really had a good day . yesterday i had the blahs.ps server was down yesterday hard to log on today.

Great shooting mdwest.  Im glad the .223 turned out for you.  That makes me want to go just a bit shorter with mine now.  What weight bullets were you shooting through it?
