No thanks, he voted in favor of the "gun free school zones act" during the Klinton years. 'nuff said.

WOW! YOUR RIGHT! Not only did he vote for it, the INFAMOUS "Lautenberg Act" was included in that bill. Well I guess I got over that in a big hurry. Thanks for the info Doublebass73.

No problem Dee, I don't think that many people realize this about Newt. It's a dealbreaker for me and it should be for anyone who treasures their 2nd Amendment rights. If that's not enough evidence that Newt could care less about the Constitution then I don't know what is.

I am glad to see there are other folks that think like I do. When I evaluate a politician my first question is where do they stand on gun rights. If their stance is unfavorable then that is all I need to hear and will not listen to anything else they have to say.

People have derided me for this stance in the past but if a politician does not want me owning a gun then he sees me as a subject rather than a citizen and that renders anything else he says as irrelevant in my eyes. This is exactly why I will never even consider voting for ANY democrat.

Well said lakota. I will never compromise a vote when it comes to the 2nd. It looks like he's also bought and paid for by Freddie Mac which puts in the same company as Barney Frank and MANY other insider politicians:

Tell me blind ear. On the topic of "repentence". When is a good time to repent? When you realize the sin yourself, or when others have pointed it out to you, and you realize their right, or when you suffer the consquences of that sin, and realize that you deserved the consquences, and repentence is the proper thing to do. OR! How about all the above?
God tells us, to judge the sin, not the sinner. Where do you stand on that? I actually don't know Newt's heart, nor the preachers heart. Do you?
If Newt says he's sorry, and has repented, then I have to believe him, unless I SEE otherwise.

I'll let God and the sinners work that out. ear

my number 1 issue is abortion and Newt would fight for constitutional protection of the unborn.

With Newt you are safe in the womb but fair game as soon as you take your first breath.

" Newt Gingrich suggested addressing the threat posed by the Iranian nuclear weapons program with “maximum covert operations” that could be denied later on....  Mr. Gingrich said the first part of his plan for Iran would be  ”maximum covert operations to block and disrupt the Iranian program including taking out their scientists, including breaking up their systems.” “All of it covertly, all of it deniable.,” Mr. Gingrich said.
Both men (Gingrich and Santorum) were willing to consider the option of more direct military action in Iran.
“If, in the end, despite all those things, the dictatorship persists, you have–you have to take whatever steps are necessary to break its capacity to have a nuclear weapon,” Mr. Gingrich said."
http://www.politickerny.com/2011/11/12/newt-gingrich-and-rick-santorum-discuss-secret-war-in-iran/

What this means of course, is an unconstitutional undeclared war. It is terrorism, plain and simple, to murder citizens of another country, bomb them and destroy their factories and infrastructure,  without declaring war.
Well, no problem Newt says, we'll just 'deny' it, lie about it in other words. And if the results of the 'maximum covert activities' do not satisfy Gingrich there remain other means - direct involvement of U.S. troops, both from the air and on the ground.
We must weigh the cost in lives and money, and the spiritual price we will pay in shedding blood  unnecessarily, before we attack a country that poses little threat to the United States.

It's sad that the Republicans can't come up with a dynamic leader to beat Obama. Shows how troubled the Republican party is. As I said before, if the Republican party looses the presidental election; they only have themselves to blame.

The Republican party has no reason to present a dynamic leader, they are accompliahing thier goals and WE have no choice but to vote for whom ever they put up, or vote for no one, or vote for one of the greater of evils just to bring this situation to a head.

The agenda that we are under is thier wish or they WOULD present a dynamic candidate.

Rio,  I've said all along that we should partner the CIA with Mossad to take out our enemies.
we could have skipped 2 wars that way.
to kill a snake you cut off his head.  CIA covert agents and our special forces don't join up to play games.  they want to kill enemies of the USA.

Well, if it's OK for us to go kill whoever we think is our enemy, or we are 'told' is our enemy, and then lie about it ('plausible deniability')... or if it's OK to destroy through bombing innocent persons who happen to live in an 'enemy' country...
..then I reckon it's OK for the other side to do that too..

Where does that leave us?

What you are advocating is throwing away 'civilization', hard-won after centuries of effort.
What you are condoning is making men into beasts.  No - worse than beasts - even wolves don't murder, or engage in pre-emptive strikes.

I could argue the immorality of such killing as you advocate, but I don't think you'd understand.
