New T/C sevrvice department
« on: November 17, 2011, 02:22:14 AM »
I don't know how many of my fellow members have any dealings with the new service department at Smith & Wesson.  I had a problem with my T/C recoil proof 2.5-7 pistol scope.  The person I dealt with said I would have to buy a new one, first thing, not finding out the problem.  After reminding the person, the scope has a life time warrenty, the person restated I would have to buy a new one.  I then asked to speak to a supervivor, and the person then said to send it to the service department with my contact information, and they will look at it.  Then hung up.
This is not the service I had with the old company. and plan to send Smith & Wesson a letter stating my displeasure with the service department.  I havecontenders, encores, and tcrs., and might be considering selling the all, if this is the service I will be getting from S & W.   Just letting off some steam, let me know your experiences with them.

I sure hope you got the name of "the person" so you could include it in your letter.  Do some research and send the letter to the plant manager, CEO, etc.

After a big transition I know it's difficult to get everything back in order but customer service should always be first priority. Hope they get this straightened out.

Yes I did get the name of the person, and it is in the second sentence of the letter.  It was like I was interrupping a coffee or lunch break.  The person was very short and didn't want to hear anything about my problem.  I have been a great advaciate of the T/C centerfire single shot firearms, since 1977.  Have converted many of my friends to the T/C line of firearms.  I hope everyone else has better correspondence with S&W. Thanks for the replies.

I can't speak of T/C issues with the new"parent" co. but; I did call them with a trigger pull issue in a S+W mod.1006-was advised by a very polite and professional fella that they would send me a shipping label-return the the gun and it would be repaired and sent back to me free-o-charge....So it was boxed, shipped(Fed-ex),repaired and sent back to me in roughly 4 weeks.   I don't know but that to me is perty slick customer relations.... just my 2cents.SAS

E-mail never worked very well with TC.  Let us know if it works now.  It was best to call in the old factory.

I had a locking bolt break on my Encore 7mm Rem mag barrel. Called CS and they wanted me to send in the barrel. Told the guy I already stole a set out of another barrel as I was going elk hunting. He said he would send me the parts free of charge. I asked to buy 3 hammer springs for my Contenders, he would not let me pay and sent these along with the bolts.

Service was as great as it was the last time I called them a couple years ago.

I would think that is a usual turn around time.

alittle off topic, but is the best way to tighten up a loose dovetail?

Screw the wings in tight? ;D

On the main topic, I sent an email to TC customer service a few weeks ago to see about getting some filler screws for barrels that I put scopes on.  Got about 15 packages a week later.  Turned out that they were for the BP barrels so I sent another email and got the correct screws in another week.  Not bad at all, IMHO.

About a year ago, after hearing that TC had gone under new ownership, I thought I might better order a few parts that might become difficult to find later.  I ordered some front ramps and front sights for encore rifle barrels.  I was told that they came with screws included.   I also ordered some additional screws for mounting rear sights on a pistol barrel.

After a week or two, I received the pistol barrel screws, but nothing else.  On the packing slip it described the other parts on back order, so I patiently waited a few weeks.  After not hearing anything more, I contacted them again.  They told me that that according to their records there was only one shipment and it was complete.  After I told them what my packing slip said, they reviewed their records again an said that it was a mistake and would fix the situation.   It took several more weeks and another phone call before I finally received the rest of the order.  I was not impressed by my experience for such a simple order.  (And the front sights I received, did not come complete with their own screws).  I gave up on trying to straighten out the order.  I am hesitant to deal with them again, especially with all the transfer of ownership shuffling going on.

TC has been owned by S&W for some time now.  I think that it is only very recently that their operations were consolidated in Springfield and their NH plant closed.
