Hey there:
Would like everyone to know that Tim, Quick, is one great hombre. I had this new barrel that I bought on here, and it would not fit the two receivers I had reserved for it. I finally got it to fit on one of my rifles, but I wanted to use it on this receiver I had reserved for it. So, what did I do ?? I tried and tried, hurt my finger, smashed it, barrel lacked a long way from fitting.
I then took a break, came in here and sat down at the computer. I started searching for barrel fitting, and then I found Tim's write up on what to do. I read and re-read it several times, and then I got the tools Tim said that would be needed to do a barrel fitting.
Lo and behold, I set to work on my work table, and as I ground and polished on the barrel pivot hole, I'd stop and check if I were making any progress. I knew once metal was removed, it was gone, didn't want that to happen.
Probably about an hour filing, polishing, and trial fitting barrel to receiver, I held it up to the light, no gap to be seen. It was also locking like a bank vault, and opened like it should. I checked all a bunch of times, just like Tim said to do, and all was a huge success. I am one happy camper.
I'll be honest and tell you without that great write up, I didn't have a clue on how to make that barrel fit. I have already shot it. It is a SS 223 barrel I bought from Northkid, and now, have to load up some rounds. I scoped it, and lazer sighted it in, and will start bench resting load work up next week.
Again, thank you, Tim. I know you are the Geru on these firearms, and I will never forget the hammer and screws you sent me when you knew I needed them. Well, done wrote a book, but I believe folks should know that when they do something good, they are appreciated and much needed and for one, I am grateful. Thanks so much. I am going to read all the stuff on here about NEF/HR firearms. I am fully addictive to them, now.
Best to all,
