The Occupy Movement Is Protesting the SAME THING that the Founding Fathers Protested at the Boston Tea Party

Posted on November 18, 2011 by WashingtonsBlog    The Occupy – And Original 2009 Tea Party – Movement Is Protesting the SAME THING that the Founding Fathers Protested at the Boston Tea Party I noted yesterday:

The Founding Fathers hated big corporations. See
this, this and this. They were as suspicious of big corporations as they were the monarchy. So they only allowed corporate charters for a very brief duration, in order to carry out a specific, time-limited project.
As James Madison noted:

There is an evil which ought to be guarded against in the indefinite accumulation of property from the capacity of holding it in perpetuity by…corporations. The power of all corporations ought to be limited in this respect. The growing wealth acquired by them never fails to be a source of abuses.
Indeed, while the Boston Tea Party was a revolt against taxation without representation, it largely centered on the British government’s crony capitalism – and disproportionate tax breaks – towards the East India Company, the giant company which dominated the tea market and hurt small American business.
Protesting against the government propping up today’s giant banks – who are ruining the chance for small businesses to have a fair chance at competing – is exactly the same idea.
As I’ve repeatedly noted, the “Tea Party” movement starting in 2009 was also originally centered on the protesting government bailouts of the giant banks. See this, this, this, this and this.
While it was quickly hijacked by the mainstream Republican party, Sarah Palin, Neocons and others, the Tea Party was originally an anti-crony capitalism, anti-corruption, anti-bank bailouts protest. As such, it really was originally modeled on the Boston Tea party.
No wonder – as I noted last month:

The
Oath Keepers and a founding member of the Tea Party announced that they are supporting the current protests on Wall Street and against the Federal Reserve.
Another key founder of the Tea Party – Karl Denninger – also supports the protests, and points out that the demands of the Tea Party protesters were originally very similar to those of the Occupy protesters (before the mainstream Republican party co-opted the Tea Party) .
Numerous local tea party leaders, such as the leader for the Trenton area, also support the Occupy protests.

One thing is clear!
People are are not happy with the changes in America. We are bankrupted as a nation, The job's once filled by Americans in America, are now being filled in countries like India, Mexico, China and others. The future for our children and Grandchildren looks pretty bleak.

The Left cry's foul, when the Right protests. The Right cry's foul when the Left protests.
Still that big divide in the masses, while the monarchy grins like a monkey eating bananas because we are divided.

I hear some of my conservative brothers cheer when police spray our children with harsh chemicals, and call them names like COCKROACHES, VERMIN, and other derogatory names.

The left is just as bad, when talking about the Tea Party protestors.
These are not insects, or rodents.............They are the children of Republican and Democrat parents.I'm encouraged to see people from both sides coming to their senses and perhaps coming together to try and get us back on the right track again.

Good Post!
Freedom Of Speech.....Once we lose it, every other freedom will follow.

I guess I see people like othe OWS crowd who want to steal from others by way of taxes as what they are parasites.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

TM..you MUST be kidding..about all the "Oath Keepers" and OWS could ever agree upon ios the idea that corps exert influence beyond where they should, but they sure don't want to hand the power to the worldwide radical left...that would be "jumping from the frying pan, into the fire'.
Read what Oath Keepers has to say..  http://oathkeepers.org/oath/2011/10/24/occupy-wall-street-to-attack-us-freedoms-with-constitutional-convention/

  I'm not saying Oath Keepers is always right either, but iif OWS wants to bring Christians along with their ideas, they must do several things, namely;
 1) clean up
 2)  Announce a pro-life stance
 3) Denounce communism
 4) Quit living like pigs..dope, defecating in the street etc.
 5) Drop their anti-Jewish stance
 6) Stop spilling garbage words from their mouthes.
 7) Denounce the radical left of the world
 8) Start respecting our flag .
 9) Start obeying laws and the reasonable requests of law officers.
10) Strike their tents and start respecting other citizens' right to streets, parks, sidewalks and their homes & businesses.

Now, those 10 items would be a good starter... so what's the chance the OWS folks would comply ?

  WOW !!!n  Lots of verbage TM !;
So how's chances the OWS Flea Baggers will adapt to the 10 point 'cleanup' plan and gain supporters ?
''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Yours and Karl Denninger's claim that Denninger "founded' the Tea Party seems to be specious, at best.  THis item seems to point out that the only claim denninger has is that he suggested mailing a tea bag to congress etc. on 1/20/09, which shows him to be an Obama backer who wanted to rail against "big business" only..not against "big government".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Denninger   Others have suggested the tea bag scenario over the years..way back at least as far as Ross Perot.
Another fellow named Graham Makohoniuk suggested the same idea on his blog on 1/19/09 and the first Tea Party demonstrations were held 1/21/09, with no mention of Denninger.
That first Tea Party demonstration was held in binghamton, NY and it was about a local NY State issue.

Looks like Denninger stayed back in Chicago, his home town and base for the Obama mob.

I wonder how some will demonise the Tea Party follks in one post, and then in the next they say they are in league with the ows crowd that they are promoting as a great bunch? So is it the ows good, tea party bad, ows good, tea party good, ows bad tea party bad? I am confused!

It's simple, the ows wants ME to give MY money to THEM to pay THEIR bills.  that's not how freedom works.   freedom for them maybe, but communism for me.
I never asked for a thing during my working life except a fair wage and I made sure that my employer got his moneys worth.
comparing ows with founding fathers is stupid.  in the founders day, only animals defecated in the street.
btw, did the founders vandalize private property?

Sorry TM, that dog don't hunt. You might find one or 2 TP that think that way. The ones I talked to, downsizing the Fed. govt, and cutting spending, were the issue's.Quite a few of them worked for big business, and didn't think to take any more from them, but a wage. gypsyman

I find it funny how one demonised the Tea Party in many other threads, then tries to bring the Tea Party folk into the floundering ows mess. They have nothing in common it is free markets verses socialism.

.

Some unconfused TPers and Oathkeepers see the merits of the OWS...other that are ''confused" just won't and will stick with the TP like yourself..

every business or corp operate for one thing, profit.  they all operate between the parameters set by congress.  as long as lobbiests are legal, that's the way it will be.
now if the ows scum want to change things, go hang out in DC and stop vandalizing private property around the country.
our neice married a guy with a computerscience degree and unless you can relocate to china, even those degrees aren't worth as much these days.  so he went to work for ATT installing u-verse.  he makes good money and big bonuses for his quality work.  he said at his present rate he can retire at 50.  the ows crowd want high paying jobs that doesn't require work and they want ME to pay for their education.

TM says;
" Yeah Billy...you're confused alright.. ::) ..just so happens there is alot of people on the conservative spectrum that get what the OWS is talking about...understand they don't have to be all homogenized white guys from Heritage Foundation, but get the gist of their charges....which according to post#1 article was very similar to the original TP manifesto. But Being confused you probably won't pick up on that idea... ;) ;D ...so just mutter on".
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Yes; most conservatives "get" what the occupiers are saying.
They have heard, considered and ruminmated upon what those misfits are saying....  and they still don't like their message.
Anarchy and the "gimmies" don't sit well with the conservative philosophy...

'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

I don't understand your hang-ups concerning race...Tea Partiers don't dewll upon race, in fact I have never heard race discussed at a rally...even though all ethnicities are well represented.

''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
You speak of a TP "manifesto"...The TP wouldn't use that commie favored term >manifesto<..  but perhaps the OWS would.  The Tea Parties prefer instead, a "mission statement'.  The two major Tea Parties have a mission statement which are remarkably similar.
   Here is the one from the....     TeaParty.net   short, sweet and honest ;

'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
"Our mission is to recruit like-minded Americans to the Tea Party movement in order to advance the principles of limited government, fiscal restraint, and individual liberty at all levels of government through promotion and education.
The Tea Party movement is a grassroots movement of millions of like-minded Americans from all backgrounds and political parties. Tea Party members share similar core principles supporting the United States Constitution as the Founders intended, such as:

    • Limited federal government
    • Individual freedoms
    • Personal responsibility
    • Free markets
    • Returning political power to the states and the people
"As a movement, the Tea Party is not a political party nor is looking to form a third political party any time soon. The Tea Party movement is, instead, about reforming all political parties and government so that the core principles of our Founding Fathers become, once again, the foundation upon which America stands"

'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
Reading the mission statements by both major Tea Parties,  I see things like....   limited govt, ..... personal freedom and ...........personal responsibility....Things which I have never heard highlighted by the OWS...
Of course, neither of the Tea Party mission statements suggest camping on public or private property, peeing in the street, smoking dope, talking filthy, rape, using filthy signs, cursing Jews or taking a dump on a cop car... ;)   :D   ;D

No; don't try to tell us there are any similarities between the Tea Party and the OWS...and I'm not just talking about the smell.

If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

OK, lets all slow down and see if we can agree to find, which way to go.
Just to get to the meat, so to speak.
TMZ, In your opinion who do we vote for?  And, what can we do to get this Country back on track?
