Just got back from the national forest weekend hunt with my son. We saw one deer and he shot it. It is a 7 point nice buck. Sleet, rain and then 3 inches of snow and ice packed roads. Snow clingling to the branches this AM so you could not see sqaut in the woods. Very fresh wolf tracks near my stand and they went 500 yards to my son's stand and we could see the wolf was able to take over for some yotes at the gut pile. Had an eagle land real close to me this AM and gave me a snow shower when it took off. More rain here at home so the water trapping is delayed yet another week.

Bryce i was out in that sleet and snow and only saw a yote.   I will set traps  after deer season  and hopefully if he hasnt eaten too many gut piles i will nail him and his buddys.   I usually only use flat sets and urine posts so shouldnt make any differance. Tonight only  heard shots....lol... so deer are out there.

We went back up to the National Forest for the Friday and the last Saturday. We spent 7.5 hours in the forest on Friday and saw no hunters or deer. Only two shots fired the whole time within 2 miles of us. We got up early Saturday and it was raining hard so we stayed in, ate a nice breakfast and called it a hunt for 2011. The two of us spent a total of 44 hours in the woods over 3 days and saw one deer and we harvested that buck so we have sausage!!!. We saw no other other hunters pass by us or we them or standing in the whole combined 44 hours! The Taylor County kill is about like last years but in our area it is much lighter with greatly reduced hunting pressure.

Going to try and set some water traps again tomorrow. Streams are still high from two weeks ago and then another .75 inches Saturday! Well at least the sign one sees will be fresh!

I hunted Opening day threw till Wednesday every day staying in the woods all day. Worst year ever in my life as I did not see one deer any day. I think it's was a combination of a mass shooting of does about 4 years ago and the wolves and bears that now cruise the woods we hunt. I don't know for sure whats up but it was quiet!

I hunted every day of the rifle deer season. Didnt see one deer.  Shots around me.  Saw  yote and two grey squirrels.  Going to work monday saw two deer in tilled corn field.  Tonight checking traps  i saw four deer in tilled corn field.  These deer werent in same area i hunted.    Got a very nice xxxl female coon, no sucked tits, just like last yea females trapped, no tits sucked..    Yotes were screaming behind house and even howling almost like a young wolf.... there are wolves here but dont think yotes would be sing songing like that with a wolf right in thier midsts.
