Shikari? H & R 44mag

Local pawn shop got one of these in today. I have never seen an H & R with a barrel band on it before. when you break it open it is kinda loose but when it is locked together it is tight. Is this normal? Blueing and wood finish is good, What can anyone tell me about this rifle and about what are they worth? When I left today he had just got it in and hadn't priced it yet.

  I had a Shikari .44 Mag which I passed to one of my grandsons.  I got 3 deer with it and he got a buck with it last year.  two weeks ago we checked the zero on it and found that it has held well, season to season.  We placed 3 shots 1" high at 50 yds..all touching.  That will be fine for the likely range in our hilly, eastern woodlands.  It has a 2.5X20 Tasco bantam shotgun scope mounted 
 
   A little play in the open action is expected..but very little..main thing is it locks up tight.
 
  Watch that ramrod, be sure it's secured..it often creeps forward when fired..turn the rod clockwise a couple times and end up with the BB on the bottom...

  Correction;
  Just got a call this morning from my grandson..the Shikari strikes again..  He took a doe this morning, good winter meat..now to go for a "horned one"..

Got one last year for $200 out the door.  1 & 1/4in. at 50 yds.
Iron sights, factory ammo (rem). Great rifle but a bit heavy
and no kick.      reclusej

  He was using the rounds pictured..or some reloads he made with 21grs of 2400 and the same bullet.

back in the mid 70's I bought two shikari's one in 44 mag and one in 45/70.  I still have the 45/70 unfired, but the 44 mag was taken by an  ex-girlfriend when she moved out.  took two deer with the 44 mag.
