Last thing I want to do is argue with you GB. Especially since I agree with you.......BUT!!
Quote from article;
"UC Davis officials had said the group may occupy the quad for as long as it wants, but could not set up camp.
“It’s not safe for multiple reasons,” UC Davis Police Chief Annette Spicuzza said.
"Police reportedly gave the students a 3 p.m. Friday deadline to remove the 28 tents from campus and showed up at the appointed time when they did not comply."
They were blocking the police from tearing down the camp they were told to not set up in the first place. No one said they couldn't come back tomorrow. They just can't sleep and do what OWS protesters have been doing all over the country. UC Davis doesn't want rapes and such on their campus. There are constraints on everything we do in our lives. These were reasonable constraints from where I stand.
UC Davis has a responsibility for safety on their campus. It's their campus and property. If they were on our property, what would we do? There is debate about how the police handled it. Should they have pepper sprayed, manhandled into patty wagons, fire hosed, (like Kent State)? We know how that ended up. According to campus authorities, it was a public safety issue on private property. The protesters couldn't be happy with that and had to push the envelope and go against the law. They suffered the consequences. And it looks funny in the picture....To me anyway.
Please do not come to my support if I break the law intentionally. We are a nation of laws and if I break one or two, intentionally, and suffer the consequences, so be it. I shouldn't have intentionally broken the law and defied police to their face, in the first place. I wonder what kind of man I would be today if I hadn't been "spanked" in the past for my bad deeds?
If I suffer injustice at the hand of anyone, then I would greatly appreciate your support. And I know I would do likewise for you.
