Sight options on Huntsman?
« on: November 23, 2011, 09:35:48 AM »
Can't make up my mind on which direction to go for my 50cal Huntsman-

Has the factory Williams fiber optic sights on it now. Stick with them, or put a Williams peep sight on it, or a Nikon Omega 1.65x5x35 with the Nikoplex reticle (not the BDC). Shots for me are a mere few yards to 150 yards with most running right at 40 to 125 yards. What say all of you?

My shots are about like yours and I started out with a red dot then went with a straight 2.5 power scope. Both worked for me but I prefer the scope for low light.

Hard to beat a scope for stand hunting, but if you go iron sights the Williams peep sight is the way to go. I have one on my Huntsman and use it when I'm still hunting or hunting thick cover and love it !

I have a Nikon Omega 1.65-5x36 w/BDC on mine.  Left the iron sights on, but the scope set at 1.65 power will pick up game easily.

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

I really like the 2x7 Nikon pro staff... A little to much mag. on the upper end, but great clarity, and great field of vision. Usually on sale at Dick's for $119 - 139...

I have Williams peeps on our 2 Huntsmans.  Can't use scopes for MN muzzleloader season.  In the heavy cover, swampy areas where we hunt, we take out the screw-in aperture and then use it like a ghost-ring.
