Need help with Holster belt
« on: November 24, 2011, 09:13:59 AM »
I have a Buscadero shell holder holster belt that is too short for me. What would be a good way to extend it to fit ? I don't have any leather working tools only a punch. I was thinking of maybe cutting it in half, in the back and take a heavy piece of leather and punch some holes and take some leather lace  and lace the extension  to the belt. My concern is will the belt be too flexible or would this not make a difference ?

Depends on how much too short.  I'd extend both billets if I only needed a few inches.  If it is way short get another belt.  A picture of the belt and the belt on you would help.

Both the wide part and narrower one are short. May just get a larger one instead of ruining this one. Or go on a diet.

Found another belt, larger size w/holster on ebay. Should fit better. May just sell this one and come out even.

Ah, the mystery of belt shrinkage!  Know how you feel - they fit just fine when new, then one day years later you go to put them on and they're several inches too short.

I tried cutting one and stitching in an extension once.  It was serviceable, but not quite up to original standards - and it looked "Rube Goldberg".

That must be the problem, leather shrinkage. I also keep telling the wife to quit shrinking my blue jeans when doing the laundry.
