Beeman- The airrifle mans rifle.

For in this country anyway, the sportsman series has got to be the airrifle mans rifle. Best spring & piston, best weight balance to power ratio, best wooden stock design and finish, and without question the best trigger! The blueing is flawless, and the scope rings along with the beeman 3-9x32 scope are the best for the money that you will find on any airrifle in this price range. Yep, Beeman is the best! scout4<><

As much as I enjoy my sportsman series from Beeman, and can shoot it well enough, but, there are many, many better rifles to be had. 


Now in their price range, yes they are one of the top CHEAP air rifles in the US market.

I do love my Beeman Fienwerkbau 124 D in .177 . Its a great gun and superbly accurate. Sadly Beeman is not the same Beeman and use to mean quality. I once ran across some Beeman pellets in a big box outdoor retailer,I found it odd because I never saw Beeman pellets in retail outlets.I read the packaging and it said made in china .

Just can't keep a scope zeroed on mine
I have had more air guns than I can remember of all types.
My favorite is still a Sheridan that is about 40 years old.
it will still punch a neat little hole through a squirrel as
high as a telephone pole. Bought a Crossman TITAN nitro-piston
a couple of years ago and it is so efficient that it might as well be a
rimfire, not much of a challenge on squirrels. Head shot accurate every time
and will literally knock a squirrel off a tree limb at 50 yards. I have a QB-78
Co2 that has taken many squirrels also. Just not over about 30 yards though.
Almost forgot an old crosman model 700 "Pell Master"! Co2 also, and between
 me and my brother, it has probably taken more squirrels than all of the others
combined! I would say I am as much of an air rifle man as any one, but I just can't
seem to choose one brand.

China-made I know but my Beeman Grizzly X2 is playing a big part in wiping out the pigeon population around my place. Accurate and powerful. I still haven't tried the .22 barrel yet but I got a tin of pellets for it yesterday. Feral cats be warned!

Cats are hard to, um, reduce the population via air gunning  .  The best shot is the nape of the neck where the spine connects to the skull.  It is only a 1/4 inch target, but about the best I have found.

 Beeman has always just been an importer/marketer/distributor, not a manufacturer of what they sell.
 
 Interesting how times have changed for the company since Robert Beeman said this (concerning firearms his company imported) in 1985...
 
"We're trying to import guns that are a little different; which offer something no other firearms on the market offer , like the Korth revolvers or Unique pistols. We've turned down a lot of business proposals - the People's Republic of China, for example, wanted us to import a rifle, but when their representative tried to demonstrate it, it fell apart. I wouldn't say always, Robert Beeman had a personal hand in the design and building of the early R-1 model.  Since they were built in Germany, yes they had to be imported to the US.


Aside from that one exception it is my opinion that you are correct.

Back then in 1985 when Mr. Beeman made that statement I would have to agree. Those old beater chinese airguns where crude, and the spanish built guns not much better. In these more recent years that has been largely changed. From my own experience my chinese made Crosman quest, the fit and finish is about as good as any with the exception of something that cost 5 times more. The trigger isn't great, but there is a replacement trigger that will take care of that. From all I can tell, my Beeman bearclaw has a finish that will match anything much more costly with an rs2 trigger that works every bit as good as the trigger in RWS rifles. Far as I'm concerned these Beeman sportsman series with the rs2 trigger are great airrifles for the avarage working Jo! that pays a $1.25 for his coffee while he's putting gas in the old beater truck on his way to work everyday. scout4

I bought myself a 177 Feinwerkbau 124 as a present when I finished my Masters back in 78.  I still have that fantastic rifle.  My wife and I used it to keep meat (rabbits and quail) on the table when we had little kids.  She would walk out ahead of me on old farmsteads shooting cottontails and I would following behind doing the cleaning.  One day she took 9 or 10 rabbits (can't remember for sure) and used only 11 pellets.  She was deadly with the rifle.  It was really fun sniping bobwhites with.  It took a lot of stalking and patience.
