newt G. vs R Paul
« on: November 27, 2011, 07:13:28 AM »

Lets take a good look at Newt G. vs Ron P.

http://www.hithimagain.com/2011/11/13/newt-gingrichs-voting-record-cant-compare-to-ron-pauls/

One would think most on this forum would gladly vote for RP after comparing the two..... but  ::)

Here's a summary of Gingrich's family life: blah blah blah

Doesn't look good. Anyhow... I'm still favoring Ron Paul.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Sounds like Newt has a lot in common with John "four hundred dollar hairdo" Edwards.

I don't really care what a person does in his personal affairs if he believes in freedom, the Constitution and free enterprise and can get this country back on track.  Apparently Obama is quite the family guy, but that hasn't helped one iota to put this country back on line.

Now, having said that, I am not prepared to get on Gingrich's bandwagon--yet.  But if it comes down to Newt against Barry, we'd all better hope that people can overlook a less than sparkling matrimonial history.

charcter flaws are just that flaws in ones charcter and point out that someones charcter is not solid .
We have accepted this as the lessor of two evils and where has it gotten us ? J.E. Hoover made a carrer out of exploiting peoples charcter flaws. So now we are to vote for more of the same ?

Newt vs. Barry = 3rd party vote for me. I'm all set with voting for "gun control" Gingrich. I could care less about Newt's personal life but his voting record is bad enough that I'll never vote for him at any cost.

[/Newt vs. Barry = 3rd party vote for mequote] Enjoy Barry's 2nd term then. I understand voting strictly on principle, that is what primaries are for. When the majority of the party members vote and decide the candidate is somebody you don't find appealing, you plug your nose and vote the party candidate.

I admit, conservatives have had to do this repeatedly i.e Jon McCain, G. Bush. But the other option is go with the Ross Perot third party guy who is unelectable and hand the opposition the race. That is reality.

Many love Ron Paul. Fantastic. I am not a huge fan and the reality is he won't win the primary most likely. His supporters fought the good fight and lost. It happens.

Staying home or voting for some third party guy that won't win is foolish in my opinion. Getting the senate and house firmly won and stoked with more Rand Paul types is most important anyway. They write the laws, not a Newt  or Mitt president.

The lesser of two evils mentality is what has us on this runaway big government train. To me that is much more foolish than voting on principle. I'd rather be part of the solution than the problem. Otherwise we will have a perpetual string of Jorge Bush, Juan McAmnesty, Mitt Obamney, Newt Guncontolrich type liberal candidates. If you're willing to vote for them then all the power to ya. I myself prefer to vote for candidates that have a voting record and principles that I actually agree with. The mainstream Republican candidates are way too fiscally liberal socialists, I refuse to vote for someone just because they have an "R" next to their name.

Well said Doublebass. Voting for the lessor of two evils is not only throwing your vote away, it is participating in evil.

My goodness what a refreshing thread to read this morning.  To think there are members on here that will look at candidates voting record before making a decision... I need to travel and shake a few hands and buy you guys a cup of coffee.

And more common sense!  I must be in a dream.  All I've been hearing from people lately is how a vote 3rd party is a vote for Obama.  Well I bought into that mentality last election when I voted for John McCain and that was still a vote for Obama.  The two party system lie is how we've found ourselves in the mess were in.  A vote for Romney or Gingrich is still a vote for Obama.  They're all of the same cloth.   As far is R.P. is concerned, how can you not like a guy that has a sign on his desk that reads "Don't steal.  The Government hates competition."
I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."

Essentially yes.  If I find that a 3rd party candidate's voting record and views are what I decide is best for this country then my responsibility as a US citizen is to vote for who I believe will do the best job.  In the case of our outlooks for the 2012 election, if Romney or Gingrich win the GOP nomination then a vote for either one of them is vote for liberalism.  Obama, Romney, Gingrich... All cut from the same cloth.

Good posts guys. We are in a long rut of voting in either very liberal Republicans or Socialist Democrats. We are so afraid of the Socialists that we're willing to settle on voting for the slightly less liberal Republican just to keep the Socialist out. This type of thinking will never create change. Change can only come from us, the ranks of the working class. We are still the majority (for now) so it's up to us whether we want to continue on this same destructive path or if we at least want to put a dent in what's going on.

All well and good IF you can get a large amount of voters to support a 3rd Party or Independent candidate. I don't even see this possibility approaching our planet.

I think it should be remembered that RP is running on the Republican ticket atm... And doing quite well.

Right you are! Yet so many of our Republican brothers see him as a old kook, that's out to destroy the Republican party. Nothing could be further from the truth! He represents all the values the (OLD) GOP not only believe in, but tried to practice.

Well put.  Our current batch of Republicans see Ron Paul as a threat to their power.  Advocating smaller government and large cuts in spending has Republicans in fear of loosing the power they have over the people...

*p.s.*  I should say that his plans have Politicians on both sides of the aisle in fear of losing power over the masses.

If you don't believe it's a possibility then settle for whoever you think can beat Barry and vote the lesser of two evils, it's your right to do so. Just don't blame me if Barry gets re-elected because I chose to vote for the candidate that I actually agree with, it's my right to do so. I don't automatically vote for the "R", candidates have to earn my vote.

This IS a good thread. Many level-headed and moral people here.
I like Paul.
But if Paul was not in the race at all I'd still say this - there is no way the grinch could beat Obama.  Gingrich impresses too many people as a mean-spirited, hypocritical, pompous ass.

It doesn't appear to be sensible that if your candidate isn't selected in the Primary  not to vote at all in the General. None of the GOP's are as bad as the present charade in the WH.

I'd still vote in the general if there was a 3rd party candidate that I liked. I refuse to vote for Mitt Obamney or Newt Guncontrolrich, they are both big government liberals that I can't stand. To me there is nothing sensible about voting for candidates that I don't at least somewhat agree with.
