That's what needs to be done in order to stop some of the criminals. Pop a few rounds off in them and let them lay for a while. After they bleed a little bit then call the cops. Sure seems to make  somebody listen alot better when they got a hunk of lead in their gut ;) .

If you're going to drill a thief, do the job right and be on your way.  If you report it to the cops and the thief survives, he'll know who plugged him and when he gets done with the law, you'll always have to look over your shoulder.

If you kill one breaking into your house, you might be best off to bag em and toss em in the river, or leave the carcass out in the wild if you can do it without being caught.

Magooch gives bad advice; you'll get caught. Besides - who wants to be a liar?

our convenience store hero... I'm not sure about this guy. A warning shot into the ground? If someone has a weapon and is threatening me, there won't be any warning shots - just a magazineful coming his way. Warning shots when someone is pointing a weapon at you? Bad idea, IMHO.

I'll give the brother credit, and say he's just a gentle soul (and fortunate)
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

fighting back or punishing ? Fighting back is stopping aggression against you . You fear death or serious injury. The attacker has shown a threat and has means to carry it out and is doing so. Shooting guys in your car is punishment . We have laws to carry out punishment . Laws can't provide personal protection. If the gun toting people of America abuse the use of guns by using them to punish we may lose them to protect.
So what am I saying ? If the shooter shot from the door he might be on shakey ground. If he walked out to the car and they came at him he was right in shooting.
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

From the report that was linked, he told them several times to get out of his car.  Went and got his gun, reasonable, and confronted them again at which point they ran to their car and one pulled a gun on him.  He fired.

I think it perfectly reasonable to arm oneself if confronting thugs who are committing a criminal act.
