The other day I was buying some baking things for holiday pies and had cream of tartar on my list (it's for making meringues and similar pastries.) A little container of it cost about twice what I paid the last time. It was about $4.50. I did a double take on the price. Then decided I don't need that kind of pie after all, so I put all the other ingredients for it back on the shelf. This sort of thing happens often lately. I've seen it with beef the last time I tried to buy some.
I've done the same thing with other things, like clothing. I've got a favorite kind of fleece sweater that I wear a lot. Last year I bought one like it for $25. This year the same thing is $40.
I used to go to Subway restaurants a lot, but they raised their prices to the point where I won't pay it.
Are you finding experiences like this? I just buy less as a result, and stay away from the stores more. If anybody is complaining about too few customers, it may be because of unacceptable pricing.
Some things are mostly unchanged, but between the price of groceries, some of these other things, and fuel, I'm more "wallet retentive" than ever.
