I've been really impressed with Hardees as road food since they re-invented themselves a few years ago. Most of what you read about them is about their giant burgers, but they have smaller ones that are very good. Better burgers than most "sit down" restaurants like Dennys. Thumbs up.

I like the slogan I've been seeing, "If our food looked like their food we wouldn't bring to your table either". They are on top of their game though.

For the money I will choose Culvers first, but nothing at all wrong with Hardee's these days. Those onion rings are like a monkey on my back.

I've seen a lot of Culvers in some states. Never been to one. Is it fast food?

Culvers has good food but way overpriced. We've been there several xs but they are nothing spcl, except their high prices. I miss the hardees fried chicken from years ago, I believe only in the South, but they dropped it some years ago.
BK used to have a great dbl cheeseburger for $1. Now they changed the name, reduced the meat, left off a slice of cheese, omitted some trimmings, and now costs $2. Completely flavorless and a waste of money. If there is a rallys close by try them. All fast food is bad for us but we do occasionally eat it. Mostly we buy a ft long sub for $5 and cut it in 1/2. POWDERMAN.

I agree that Hardee's burgers are good, but when it comes to chicken sandwiches.
I would have to say that Chick-fil-A has the best chicken sandwiches.

While only slightly higher than Hardees I think the food is a bit better. The stores tend to be cleaner and the menu much more varied.

I'm not real big on fast food. Too much salt and fat for my taste. That and the fact that they are not all that cheap especially when you consider you are only getting counter service. Once in a while I may go to a Quiznos or something like it if I am really pressed for time and just have to have a bite to eat.

I generally 'brown bag' it when I'm working. Occasionally I'll find a local pub (locally owned, not a chain) that serves a good bar pie (pizza), burger or salad. I find I usually get a more satisfying meal, brought to my table for only a couple of bucks more than what I probably would have spent at a FFR.

Guys; I live in western NY state, as far as I know the closest Hardees to myself is in central Pennsylvania on the Sesquehanna..Culvers I am not familiar with.
The south of course has the better 'fast' chicken. We are so bereft of good chicken places, that many here think KFC is good. We do though, have some great owner-operated chicken BBQ services here, who do specials for fire cos, company picnics and country fairs etc.
For quick chicken, I like Lee's...out of either Ohio or Kentucky..although Hardees, Popeyes, churches and Bojangles are OK too (in that order). Obviously, I can only get much of these foods while travelling.

I have to agree about the Egg McMuffin. Brilliant invention. I like it so much that I made myself some rings so I can make them at home. I make my own English muffins too. They are extra good when you make them yourself. And they really don't qualify as junk food.

I have had numerous people stop by my shop and ask me to make those rings which facilitate the McMuffin operation. I usually attach a little handle of 1/4" round stock which sticks straight up about 2.5" above the ring..and has a circular curl, so it can be grasped with a hotpad. Once "seasoned" they work well.

Often, when travelling and want a reasonably healthful quick meal, I'll stop by Subway and pick one of their sandwichesd with a lot of veggies included. As I see it you have the food groups fairly well covered; meat, dairy (cheese), vegetable and bread.....and I like them..
Some other sub makers put on a fairly large amount of meat, but neglect the veggies. I tried one of Subway's well known rivals a couple years ago..had fair amount of meat. When I asked, "where are the vegetables"?..I was told, "they're in there"!.
I sat down, opened the sub and found a couple tablespoons of something green, chopped up fairly fine..in a thin layer over the meat & cheese.....I've never gone back to any of their shops.

If i'm going to eat by myself It will be Hardee's. If i'm taking the wife and kids out for a meal then it will be Logan's roadhouse or something similar. If we all go to McDonalds it's going to cost 20-25 dollars for everyone to eat. If I go to Logans and get a small perfectly cooked steak and potato then it will cost probably 32.00 and is much better quality and better for you.

But in the end we dont eat out much so it's easy to justify.

Does Hardees still offer their Frisco breakfast sandwich?
(I think it was called) When I was living in Atlanta I loved 'em.

Best lunch place I frequented was schlotzskys

The chain food I really miss now that I have moved back north is Cracker barrel.

We used to stop at a Hardie's occasionally and they had their pickles out where you could put them on yourself. I really liked that. Then they closed down and we never see them in our neighborhood.

In North Pole we got Wendy's and McDonalds, one 50s style dinner, one Pizza Hut (take out only) and about 20 Oriental places.

In Fairbanks, several McDs, Taco Bells, and KFCs, 1 A&W/KFC, that's it for fast food. For lunch when Sky was going to school in Fbnks, the kids went to Sam's Club snack bar, that was the fastest.

Burger King folded a few years back, Arby's, and many more folded back during the 85 recession here in Fairbanks. We have no fast food places for sea food, like Capt Dees, or Long John Silvers.

I forgot about Arbys - Their bacon cheddar sandwich was sooooooo good. we don't have one here , wish we did.

I like Arby's and Sonic. The Sonic breakfast burrito is awesome. Scrambled eggs, tater tots, onions, jalapeno's, sausage, cheese and sliced tomato, salsa and big enough it's a real meal.

Sam's Club in Fairbanks!!!! Wow that's pretty uptown, life would have sure been easier if they had been there when we were, but then Sam's club hadn't even been invented yet when we lived in Tok.

The Sam's club is a real quick cheap and tasty lunch. $2.00 for a generous piece of pizza and it tastes good too.

Most of those places i have never heard of here in Western NY. We do have a Dennys. Good food lousy service. Went to KFC once. Got the chicken home and couldn't find a piece in there that looked like chicken to me. Sure looked like rat. $:-\$ Never been back there.

I don't know where you are from in WNY, but if you are in southern Erie or Wyoming Counties or northern part of the southern tier and see them advertised, check out the entrepreneurs I spoke of. That would be Krolick's (of Arcade) or Wendell's (East Concord) ..better than Chiavetta's (IMO). Last I knew, Wendell's raises their own chicken while Krolick special orders his from selected sources.
