I have been eyeing the new Savage bolt actions and I know they did some cosmetic changes to smooth out the action some from the older 112 type with the extruded features.  Saw a You Tube video of taking one of the older rifles apart and it seems real simple, a genious design.  Use an allen wrench on the back part, and then it all comes apart for cleaning, etc.

Looked at the new rifle types today at my gun shop that had the cosmetic changes and was not sure on how to take the bolt apart.  There is a small black device at the end of the bolt knob face, confused on how that works other than being a cocking knob?  Downloaded the owners manual from Savage and it does not show any clarity on the bolt dissasembly. Anyone have one of the new versions and take the bolt apart?  Was it as easy as the older version?

Does the new version work as well as the old time and true model?

Thanks.

I believe that they are all the same.
