Contender Ejectors ??
« on: January 14, 2004, 08:54:30 AM »
Looking at a supposedly NIB Contender barrel, Hunter model and it has an ejector.  I thought that the ejector was an aftermarket option.  If this is true, I question the NIB status of the barrel or am I over-reacting ?

Always had barrels with the extractor and never an ejector.  Any of you use the ejector ?  How do you like it for hunting ?

Ejector barrels were offered from the factory although I don't think for very long. I had one in 45/70 and hated it. I was always chasing the brass. For a hunting rig it might be a plus though.  KN

Ejector barrels were offered as a factory option for a short time before the fire at the TC plant.  They were available as Hunter barrels and were set up for rimmed cartridges only to my knowledge - 7-30 w, 30-30, 357 Max, 375 Win, and 45-70.  Check page 2 of this forum where the subject was discussed about 2 weeks ago.  They are pretty tough to come by and are available only on the used market - TC / FRO does not offer them anymore as far as I know.  I heard once that VVCG had ejectors available as an option for their custom barrels - you would have to talk to them.
