Revolversmith sought
« on: November 30, 2011, 02:14:26 AM »
I need some work done on my Three Screw Blackhawk that is small in nature (compared to total rebuilds, caliber conversions, etc...) and I'd like to find a professionally trained smith as close to the NY/PA (Fingerlakes Region) border as possible.  I'd also perfer not to wait the times that I was just quoted by the famialr group of fellows.  I have nothing against the Bowens, Horvaths, Hartons, Stroh's, Forkins, Reeders...  In fact I have another of my Old Models with one of the above mentioned right now.  But I need to have a talented back up who has a much smaller backlog and doesn't mind filling this niche for folks and who does very high quality work.  And to be honest, if he is similarly capable of those total rebuilds and caliber conversions, then I'd use him for that as well.  It is only fair.
Thanks for your recommendations,
Ed

Not for long.

The REASON the Bowens, etc of this world have such long wait times is that they're under heavy demand due to that very same talent you're seeking.

IOW, if a gunsmith's NOT under a heavy workload/demand, he's just not anywhere near as good.
