What to do with a Bushnell Banner II?
« on: November 30, 2011, 02:15:55 PM »
Gents - I just picked up a used Handi rifle and it came with a Bushnell Banner II 3-9x32 scope.  I replaced that scope with a Sightron that I had.  Now, I don't know what level of scope the Bushnell is.

I did some searching, but could not find any info on this scope.  I know it's not a high dollar scope, but is it worth saving for anything?  Perhaps find some youngster with a .22 that wants to move up from shooting open sights?  It doesn't look like anything I would put on a centerfire rifle, but I would like your opinions.

Quite frankly, if I threw the scope away, I still came out ahead on the used Handi it came on.

Thanks.

Tim

I have a Bushnell Banner on my 204 Ruger. The gun hasn't been shot much but so far the scope has worked great. Everything seemed to work like it was suppose to. I don't think i would throw it away.
Maybe buy another rifle to put it on. ;D

Thanks for the info.  I just wasn't sure what level of quality this was.  Guess I should look for another rifle to go with the scope.

Thanks.

I had a Rossi 308 that had about the most brutal recoil of any gun I have ever owned. It was a scope eating machine until I put a Bushnell banner on it. For the money they are very durable scopes.

No, they're not high end pricewise, you can purchase one for under $70 at Midsouth.

Possume pretty well summed it up. Crystal clear, and can take a licking and keep on ticking. The 1.5X4.5 banner is our scope of choice for slug guns, we have 9 slug guns in the house, 7 have Banners on top of them, along with a few rifles. Never had an issue with any of them.

Easily the most bang for your buck you could ever get out of a riflescope.

I've never had one hold up on anything harder kicking than a .22.  YMMV (hope you have better luck!)

I have a 4-12x40 Dawn to Dusk Banner on an Encore 209x50. Like
others have said, the glass is great for such a low end scope.
And it, too, has taken a lickin'. Still going strong.

A friend of mine had a Banner on his deer difle and a deer took out. He couldn't see the horns. I took him to the top of the hill and told him to look at the posted sign on the next hill. I then handed him my rifle with a Leupold VX II on it. His reaction was WOW! I asked him if his binoculars were of the same quality. The next time I saw him with that gun it too was wearing a Leupold like mine and a new pair of Leupold binoculars too.
The Banner is OK for a slug gun and short range shooting but in my world, they are religated to .22's.

BTW My Son has a Bushnell 4200 Series Elite on his deer rifle.
