« on: December 01, 2011, 06:34:00 AM »
I talked to someone that heard from a friend of a friend of a friend that there is talk of allowing scopes on muzzleloaders for 2012 muzzleloading deer season.  Can anyone out there collaborate/elaborate?

Well, I remember hearing the same thing at least five years ago.....but maybe this time there is something to it.

That would be nice. The scope permits are not to hard to get, if you need reading glasses you will qualify for a permit. Only a 1x or a red dot though.

What state are you talking about? Massachusetts has allowed this for some time now.

Very easy.  I just stopped by my Drs. yesterday aft.  He signs it, you keep the original, and mail the State a copy.

Yes this should be in the legislature again this year. Well see.  I'm sure there will be the arguments on both sides.  Outdoor News has a few letters on it this week. Not sure where I"m am on this, I don't shoot a muzzleloader.  If I was into smoke poles I'd most likely go with old style trade guns, Track of the Wolf is always a fun place to take a look and see what they have instock.  I understand a primative weapon is a primative weapon, and hey there were primative scopes back in the day.  And the mondern blackpowder certainly are not primative.  Diability permits aside, folks are sure to line up where they want.  I think there are more important issues out there like baiting for one.  Here's a few thoughts to mess the process up:   How about no scopes on public land?  How about some set aside primative only areas? How about letting people choose?  How about no scope for first half of the season and scopes allowed if wanted for the rest.  I'm sure it will be intersting to say the least.
