I have heard that we executed several Japanese war ciminals after WWI, and that waterboarding was AMONG the things they were charged with.. I have never heard that a Japanese war criminal was hung (this is how they were all executed I believe..) specifically for water boarding, or water boarding only..
All of that is hearsay on my part however.. I have never looked into other than to hear Sen. John McCain speak about it once or twice.. and have never been presented any documented evidence that this actually took place (not saying it didnt happen.. Im willing to bet that it did.. just saying I have never looked into it, and never came across anything that substantiated it)..
Iraqi casualty figures listed are a bit of a misnomer..
Have we taken actions that have resulted in the death of Iraqi civilans? Absolutely.. Civilians die in war.. thats a fact..
Have 1M+ Iraqi's died as a direct result of US or coalition forces actions.. no.. thats not an accurate statement..
1M+ is quite a stretch.. most studies dont belive the number is nearly that high..
and a large sum of the civilian deaths have been caused by the direct, and intentional action of the insurgents... not by US or coalition forces..
I specifically recall a bomb that was set of on the 14 July Bridge in Baghdad that I had passed over less than 5 minutes before it was set off in 2004..
Instead of killing US troops.. the bomb killed about 60 Iraqi civilians standing in line on the bridge waiting to enter the Green Zone to go to work.. I think it injured another 100+.. the bomb was intended to discourage civilians from supporting the coalition forces in the GZ..
that is one of litterally thousands of similar stories..
the different factions in Iraq have been killing each other by the hundreds monthly since Saddam lost power.. and will continue to do so long after we are gone..
for every IED you hear about hitting a US military target.. there are easily 10 or more that are used to target Iraqi civilians that you never hear about, because no one over here thinks that it is newsworthy when 5 Iraqis, to include a mother and 3 kids are all killed in an explosion..
If anything we have gone WAY out of our way to avoid killing civilians.. often at the risk of our own troops..
When we re-took Falujah in 2004, we dropped leaflets in the city for over a week prior to moving the Marines in, letting everyone know we were coming and advising non combatants to leave the city.. (this obviously let the bad guys know we were coming well in advance)..
Ahhh yeah...I said 1 million civilians dead since inception of the GWOT (I rank GWOT starting with Bush Sr) in about 23 countries...not Iracq alone. That table is from wikipedia and concentrates on Iracqui civilian deaths from the US Bush Jr war. LANCET is a very highly respected British medical journal...they come up with around 640,000 Iracqui civilian deaths from Bush Jr's war.....I wouldn't be surprised, but probably less--doesn't matter if it was from Coalition or internal factions set aginst each other by chaos...it still came about from the phoney GWOT and Bush Jr's war. As for Falluja, I don't no where those people were to go except for the fortunate before the show started. In any case I rank the real terror war is now taking palce right here in Amerioca from the looks of things.
Looks like civilians always take the brunt of casulties in war--war being just another name for revolution...safest place to be may be in the mil...

I am suspicious of the statistics.
If you look at them you can make them say anything.
Police shootings are added to Murder rates by HCI (handgun Control Inc.)
Any one who has a heart attack or respatory death is added to the Smokeing deaths as a statistic if the person smoked or not.
I wonder if they are including all the terrorists as civilians, and the informal Iraqi army as well in that count. There were thousands of terrorists heading into Iraq and Afganistan to fight the US.
Our Global War on Terror started in 93 under Bill Clinton. Rather than treating it like a real threat he saw it is a police matter and every attack that was a success (the African Embasies, the Cole, Black Hawk Down, the First World Trade Center Bombing, The War in Kosovo and the ethenic cleansing and our envolvement in taking sides, were all treated as isolated events allowing them to plan the 9/11 attack and the follow on.
