Ron Paul Declines Donald Trump Hosted Debate
« on: December 04, 2011, 02:06:29 AM »
“The selection of a reality television personality to host a presidential debate that voters nationwide will be watching is beneath the office of the Presidency and flies in the face of that office’s history and dignity,” campaign chairman Jesse Benton said.
“Mr. Trump’s participation as moderator will distract from questions and answers concerning important issues such as the national economy, crushing federal government debt, the role of the federal government, foreign policy, and the like. To be sure, Mr. Trump’s participation will contribute to an unwanted circus-like atmosphere,” Benton continued.

“Mr. Trump’s selection is also wildly inappropriate because of his record of toying with the serious decision of whether to compete for our nation’s highest office, a decision he appeared to make frivolously. The short-lived elevation of Mr. Trump’s stature as a candidate put him on the radar of many organizations and we recall that last spring he was invited to keynote the Republican Party of Iowa’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner, yet at the last minute he left RPI holding the bag by canceling. In turn, RPI canceled its biggest fundraising gala of the year and suffered embarrassment and in addition RPI was required to engage in refunding measures. Our candidate will not even consider participating in the late-December debate until Mr. Trump publicly apologizes to Iowa party leaders and rectifies in full the situation.
“Therefore our candidate Ron Paul, the champion of the Constitution, has advised he will not attend.”

Trump's response?

"As I said in the past and will reiterate again, Ron Paul has a zero chance of winning either the nomination or the presidency," Trump said in a statement in response to Paul, adding, "my poll numbers were substantially higher than any of his poll numbers, at any time."
"Few people take Ron Paul seriously and many of his views and presentation make him a clown-like candidate," he said.  "I am glad he and Jon Huntsman, who  has inconsequential poll numbers or a chance of winning, will not be attending the debate and wasting the time of the viewers who are trying very hard to make a very important decision."

Well for all the Fox News fans, (Fox News LOVES "THE DONALD") this is pretty much my opinion of Donald Trump also. With this, Paul and I, are in full agreement. This debate will be both a "showcase of the chosen", and a "sideshow" of the lessor candidates.

I feel that trump might slant things his way, he's not to be trusted. Would not surprise me for him to announce a last minute run for himself as 3rd party, which would ensure a victory for the obamination. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Let's keep in mind that Trump is a big government crony and his buddy Gingrich is a big government republican. Did Gingrich and Armey not collaborate with Clinton to push through the World Trade Organization? Did not Romney used public tax money to purchase new computers as he left office in Mass. so that there would be no record on the computers of his dealings with the big insurance and pharma about Romney care?

Hooray for Ron Paul declining the opportunity to be a side show at Trumps 3 ring circus freak show.

Paul is smarter than all of these republicrat chuckleheads combined.

I say Trump is a closet Obamaton. Why else would he be threatening a run for president as an independant?

In the same vain that I started this thread, which is humor, I thought I'd post this joke. I ran across this comment on a thread about a news pundit checking out Trump's hair. I'm sure some will not appreciate my sense of humor, but just in case someone else is as 'sick' as me, I'm posting it.   ;D

Mix some silky Donald Trump hair with some wirery Ron Paul eyebrow toupees… find an industrious squirrel or two, and in no time there will be gathered a nest full of nuts. And that’s just their supporters!

If you started this thread as humor (Which I seriously doubt ::) )Then why didn't you post it in the proper forum?I wouldn't want to think you did it to flame the..........as you, with your sense of humor put it (Nest full of nuts) Nah!

The bottom line on this whole thing is, that Ron Paul is not going to win the nomination, and he will never be president. He doesn't come off well on TV to the masses. It doesn't matter whether anyone believes it, or agrees with it. The media makes fun of him, he isn't eloquent in his manner, and his suits don't appear to fit well, for what ever reason. Americans like pretty dogs, regardless of their uselessness, and they seem to like their politicians for the same reason. I don't agree with most of them on these conditions, but I am only one vote, and I have accepted that also.
Paul says what he thinks no doubt, but his delivery is drab, so it really doesn't matter whether he goes on the Donald Trump debate, or the Barnum and Bailey Circus tour. The media, INCLUDING FOX, have picked their two front runners, the voting public will eventually accept them.

We'll see TM. I am not an expert, and I hope your right. I don't think you are, but we can hope. Most folks around this forum think reasonably in the same direction, and we tend to associate with like minded folks where we live, but the voting populace is a wide spectrum, and in all my years, I don't know if enough folks has woke up. If Obama goes down, it will most likely be to Gingrich or Romney. One is eloquent, and the other is pretty.
I agree with most of Paul's stances other than Israel, and pork, and could certainly support him, but I doubt I will get the chance.

Disagree with last post.....Looks like Dr. Paul is catching on actually. Citizens have been dumbed down for so long many are catching on.  When the full crap on Newt World Order is brought to light, perhaps more citizens will catch on.....

TM7

One can hope! I don't think the country is hurting bad enough quite yet. There's still a few dollars left in the wallet. I think Paul is catching on, but I think he's changing the minds of Democrats faster than Republican voters. Perhaps the country needs another Neocon Republican or Socialist Democrat one more time to really get the voters attention. Then if anything is left to fight for, we might get a REAL change.

I hear people from the Republican side saying they could vote for him against Obama, but not in the Primary against Newt or Mitt. That is where the problem is. "IMHO"

It's been quite a while since I saw a republican worth voting for in the presidential catagory, and I think everyone might get 4 more years of Obama if Romney or Newt get the nod. Indeed, if theres anything left after 4 more folks should be a wake.

TM, Mises said that there can only be two systems; capitalism or socialism. Capitalism is the system where the  means of production is owned and controlled privately. Socialism is the system of collective ownership and central control of the means of production. Fascism is a hybrid. It is private ownership with  centrally controlled planning of the economy by laws, rules, executive orders, regulations and control of the money and interest rates. He called it a form of interventionist government. It is the both unstable and unsustainable. Mises also showed why socialism was economically unsustainable and he predicted the fall of USSR for these reasons. It happened. He said that government intervention always leads to unintended consequences that call for more intervention to repair the problem causing more unintended consequence and so on until the system fails. We are witnessing that now.

Ron Paul is the only candidate that understands this and he knows what to do.

No need for Trump to interfere...  It looks like Ron Paul is gaining, at least in Iowa so it could get interesting..
Trump still speaks of [possibly going 3rd party..

Of this I am sure..we must remove Obama, if only to save the country.  Whoever the conservatives put against him, I will vote for.
I will NEVER vote 3rd party...I don't care if it is Trump, Bachman, Paul or Santorum, I refuse to be so stupid !

Voting for any 3rd party spoiler, would simply be another way of ...voting for Obama.

It's time to make a stand , I will not vote for a RINO republican out of expediancy.
I will never vote for Gingrich  -  Newt is only for Newt . He is a disgrace to Republicans. He shouldn't even call himself one. He is a scumbag and shames every true conservative republican. Hukster selling his cure all elixers out of a wagon.
I  will never vote for Romney -  will say or do anything just to get the not. a true scumbag hypocrite politician who would sell his soul for a seat at the table irregardless of true conservative convictions (he has none).

There is only one True conservative in the Race . well maybe two , I need to learn more about Buddy Roemer.

Ron Paul is neither a scumbag , nor flip flopper. True to his morals and convictions. you can disagree with him on policy issues, but at least you know where he truly stands. He walks the walk ... not just talks the talk.

The media is running this show excluding Paul from the national conversation, otherwise his polls would be much higher.
sorry all I will climb down off my soapbox now. apologize for my outburst of frustration against these RINO's.

FYI - USNEWS

Ron Paul Gaining Credibility By the Day December 12, 2011

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul seems to be peaking in Iowa at just the right time, with his standing in the polls very solid and starting to rise. There are several reasons for this, according to GOP strategists. Paul's vision of libertarianism is probably the clearest of all the candidates' messages, an important asset at a time when many voters are upset with politicians who compromise their principles and break their promises. His backers are probably the most passionate of anyone's in the race, and people are volunteering for him in droves. And he is getting some of his most positive news coverage since he entered the campaign.

On NBC's "Meet the Press" yesterday, Paul said Republican front runners Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney "come from the same mold" because they have both changed their minds on fundamental issues so frequently. He said all his opponents for the GOP presidential nomination "fit into the status quo."
Paul is tied for second place with Romney, behind Gingrich, in Iowa, the first state to hold a nominating contest with caucuses on January 3. according to the latest News/Washington Post poll.
Beyond that, he is in third place in New Hampshire, which holds the first primary on January 10. A good showing in Iowa should lift Paul there and in other early-voting states.
Paul, a GOP representative from Texas, is drawing big crowds, often a sign of increasing momentum. He attracted more than 1,000 people at Iowa State University last Thursday and 700 at the University of Northern Iowa on Friday.
Just as important, Paul seems to be gaining more credibility by the day. For the first time, many news organizations are covering him like a serious candidate.

Well, Trump cancelled his debat. And, said that it would be May or June before he would announce if he was going to run as a 3rd. party. Seems with his Apprentice show going on the air, it would give him air time that the other delegates don't have. Hope by then it'll be narrowed down to Paul or Bachman. Maybe Santorum, as he looks much better than NewtRomney twins. gypsyman

There is only one true conservative in the race.

And that person is not Ron Paul.

Then please enlighten us with your grand wisdom as to who that person is.

Oh btw if you vote for Newt or Romney or Perry or anyone other than Paul or Johnson at this point you are still voting for Obama... just the white versions as they are all nothing but mouth pieces for the NWO controllers.

But for some reason you are to damn worried about some other country to give a crap about this one. If you are so concerned for the safety of Israel then why don't you move over there and  become a citizen to fight for them. As a country and they have done absolutely nothing for me or to help me. As a people they have done nothing for me so why the hell should I care what they do or don't do or who does what to them... oh wait I don't.

You show you allegiance to Israel but not to the US got to love that...  When was the last time you read the US Constitution?

Spare me. What is it with you Paulie's and your continual whining about the "Constitution"? It's like listening to nails on a chalkboard. Ron Paul is not going anywhere. His own political base is his worst enemy. You people think you know more than anyone else. You don't. This guy will not get one single Electoral Vote. He's run twice before, and went the same place he is going now, NOWHERE. You need to start thinking of an alternative candidate because Ron Paul isn't going to be it. Sorry to ruin your day with a hard dose of REALITY.
