No 5 inches on the ground here south of you Tom but enough to stick and cover things. I never seem to be ready for the cold and snow anymore. Duck season closed yesterday with a whimper for me as I didn't shoot one bird yesterday. I really think the big flight isn't down or trickled threw? either way very few birds on the river.
I picked up the few coyote sets I had out Saturday morning while it was just raining and hadn't changed to snow yet. Only caught one young very mangy coyote, I was pleased to see that the wax dirt and peat moss had those few sets still in working order. I think I'm going to pretty much hang up the traps for now. I will be bring the fur out of the freezer bit by bit and getting it scrapped and boarded for the Feb NAFA sale. Got a few things in the yard to get squared away today that should have been done before the snow stuck. Other than scrapping fur I think I'll shift gears try to start fishing.

Mark--forget the fishing(you have all year to fish). Take advantage of your new regulations, and go cable restraint those coon eating coyotes.
Spposed to be below zero here, tonight.

We got 3 inches of rain on November 8th and 9th and that kept me out of the water until the end of deer hunting here November 26th. Set up 3 of the 6 sections of water I could not get to on November 29thand pulled Saturday the 3rd. Got 6 coons, 1 mink and 51 nice rats! With single digits coming in a few days my water trapping is done. I hope to do some canine sets but again my work and seasonal visitations schedules are clogging up the calendar pretty good.

Bryce understand the seasonal visits... lol.    My father inlaw a WWII vet just passed and Wed is his funeral.  He was a member of the Honor Guard of the VFW post 1638 , Merrill Wi and we  have  services  in his honor.  My father inlaw  called orders for the Honor Gd at funerals  and sadly we are doing that for him now.    He served in the Japan seas  aboard the USS Tucson.  Rest in peace .

Tom I'm challenged when it comes to hanging cable I,m way behind the curve.
But Wow lee buff burger and shroons that's my favorite, to bad you not just next door you'd be grilling for me. :-)
Forgot to take the camera out in the boat yesterday so no pic's of the couple nice walleye's we boated. Or should I say my partner boated. I couldn't seem to keep them on the hook more than a couple truns of the reel handle. Did get one just keepable perch in the boat not huge at 8 1/2 inches but just filletable. The river had that slight slush thing going when we loaded the boat so it maybe skim ice this morning. My boy has today off work so were going to go out in a couple hours and try it again. My guess is with the slack flow and cold temps our days with the boat are numbered.
Boy and I did go sell our few rats to Wiebke yesterday afternoon. Didn't get rich, didn't figure we would, but I figure we did ok for what we had. 37 rats with a high of $8.50 one damaged at $1.00 two still on carcass rats in the mix at $6.00 with and overall ave. of $7.28. Not going to retire to the warm south on that but I think we were treated fair. They had what looked to be several hundred carcass rats spead on the floor thawing. I was told that those rats had come from SD and that locally the catch like ours was way down. Also seen a few put up coon on a bench that they must have bought. Caught my eye because they looked like they had been put up on fox stretchers, small coon very narrow.
Off to get my long johns on and hook up the boat.

From the look of things on the national news you southern boys are getting it worse than we are up north here. But it will no doubt warm up earlier there.
