1885 High Wall help
« on: December 05, 2011, 11:31:34 AM »
I need an extractor for 1885 High Wall.  Can an extractor for Uberti High Wall be fitted?

I have an original barrel that was rebored and chambered in .357 mag fitted to my action but no extractor.
I have the extractor for the original 32-20 barrel that i have relined but won't fit the 357 barrel

Might call C Sharps in Big Timber Mt. they maybe able to help you with the extractor.
In the 1920's "sheeple" was a term coined by the National Socialist Party in Germany to describe people that would not vote for Hitler. In the 1930's they held Hitler as the only one that would bring pride back to Germany and bring the budget and economy back.....

What exactly do you mean by "I have the extractor for the original 32-20 barrel that i have relined but won't fit the 357 barrel " ?

Is the .32-20 extractor too long ? (it can be shortened/shaped)

Is the .32-20 extractor too wide for the .357 bbl's extractor recess/cut ? (it can be ground/filed narrower)

Does the .357 bbl liner even HAVE an extractor recess cut into the breech end ?  ( tsk, tsk)

I'm asking because, generally, the extractors for a smaller diameter original chambering have a longer reach than needed for a fatter, rechambered/rebarreled chamber's.

IOW, since the .357's rim diameter is larger than the .32-20's, a .32-20 extractor should be able to be alter to fit the larger .357 rim.
